Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has
engulfed itself in a fresh controversy, which
involves the lead of the film actress Kangana
Ranaut and the Kung Fu Yoga actor Sonu
Sood.
The film is mired ever since Sonu decided to
quit it.
After he made it clear that he can't be a part
of the film, the blame game started in full
swing.
First, Kangana stated that Sonu left the film
because she was helming the reshoots and
patchwork, and now, the actor has reacted
to Kangana's remarks saying that it is
ridiculous to make the entire issue about
male chauvinism.
As reported by PTI, Sonu said that Kangana
will always be his dear friend but constantly
playing the woman card, the victim card is
ridiculous.
He was quoted as saying, "The gender of
the director is not the issue, competence is.
Let's not confuse the two. I've worked with
Farah Khan who's a competent woman
director and Farah and I had a great
professional equation and we are still best
of friends. That's all I would like to say.
Earlier, the spokesperson stated that Sonu
Sood is occupied with the work of Ranveer
Singh- Sara Ali Khan starrer Simmba, and
was recently asked to re-shoot some
portions by Kangana. But he has sported a
beard for Rohit Shetty's film and is supposed
to be clean shaven for Manikarnika, which
however is not possible at the moment. He
therefore requested the makers of
Manikarnika to shoot the film after he
completes his Simmba schedule, but things
didn't work out and he decided to quit the
project.
After his exit from the film, Kangana said,
"He vehemently denied to work under a
woman director, which is kind of amusing
because Sonu is a dear friend.
Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is slated
to release on January 25.
