Ther has been a change in the Box Office India rankings as Ranbir Kapoor made huge strides with Sanju and stands at number two and splits the Khans. Salman Khan is still at at the top by a distance and has seen score of 2000 points plus for eight months in a row which is a first for any actor since these rankings started in 2010.
It is based on purely box office numbers so obviously how much credit goes to Ranbir Kapoor for Sanju and how much was it a Rajkumar Hirani a factor is open to argument. This aside just taking box numbers numbers into account is giving the picture below and it is in these charts that the first signs will come of a challenge to Salman Khan from the young actors. It will come one day as eventually age comes into play. Salman Khan has dominated the charts since the release of Bodyguard in 2011 with either Shahrukh Khan or Aamir Khan in second place and it is the first time than someone else has reached second spot.
The challenge will come from a younger star as Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan have limited work and even if they were to challenge for a few months it will not belong before they get swamped by younger stars. Akshay Kumar has seen a steady run this decade without challenging the top spot while Hrithik Roshan has been hit hard. The disaster opening numbers of Mohenjo Daro and Kaabil put his box office position in an awful spot which needs a lot of work to get out but his popularity is above what the numbers suggest. Hrithik Roshan is the only star in the top ten with minus points.
The rankings below are for India and completely based on opening box office numbers with holiday factors taken out and films which are technically guest roles or small releases left out. The criteria for the rankings below is here.
1. Salman Khan: 2380 points
2. Ranbir Kapoor: 832 points
3. Aamir Khan: 765 points
4. Shahrukh Khan: 514 points

There is always the credit factor and padding factor and our representation can be seen here which adjusts a little as to how much are the numbers are actually the doing of the actor. That representation can be seen here.
