Why cant Pakistan and whole subcontinent be like this? When same people are here they live normally and follow rules. At immigration they act as so cute and naive ..and law abiding in front of gora officer. But in their own country they have made a mess.

Is it because more educated people come here?

But then I saw a BMW in Pakistan who got stuck in traffic so it took the opposite road and overtook all of us stuck. Even the rich break law

Maybe it is in our genes that we lack civic sense

But if genes were problem why are we okay here in west?

I guess its combination of genetics + environment + lack of laws + frustration + population + lack of resources

Middle eastern countries like UAE and Qatar are much more like west but just weather is hot

It is something in Indian subcontinent that it is not getting to next level.

Maybe poverty and population > genetics

One thing is when I left US I had no emotion...when I left Pakistan...despite everything...inside heart I was overwhelmed. Even a non emotional...practical...became emotional.

Desi dispora are basically confused people...in mind they want to live in west..make money...enjoy ...wear abercrombie tights..act american...but their heart is still back home. When someone says well if u love back home that much..then come back. Of course many dont come back. lol.

Then the rest of the things you say, lack of laws, frustration, population, lack of civic sense and so on also play a role. But the question remains why they don't litter in the west or why not follow the same in home country as well. May be they think it's futile. When one place is already full of dirt, they may think only one person can't bring much change...for eg I find Delhi metro coaches usually very clean and people of all social classes travel by metro. They keep it clean there.

May be in a few hundred years we'd see some concrete changes in Indian subcontinent too,if we're able to save Earth that is by then.

People like you, Pakistan needs them. Not just Pakistan but India too of course. Whole subcontinent i mean...need Human assets ... It's your personal matter so I shouldn't say much though if you miss your home so much you can consider moving back?

People don't want to stay back because of lack of facilities, merit not being recognised, corruption etc but changes won't come until people stay back. It's a catch 22.

I have a teacher who I admire a lot. He completed his PhD from U.S. and came back to India after that. But he's no Shahrukh from Swades. He says so himself that he's not a hero. He said that before moving back he made a pro's and cons list of staying in US vs staying in India. He found more benefits of staying in India so he came back. It was a rational decision not an emotional one.

I guess people sometimes forget that sense of belonging is also a very important need.
