Just think if this film was on some fictional character and was directed by some failed director...do u think people would have flocked to theatre to watch ranbir's performance, even if it would have been better then sanju...

ps: Great fan of Ranbir's acting, but cannot deny the facts.

Just like the movie would've not worked with a failed director, the same way it would've not worked with a bad actor. If it had been any other crap actor in place of Ranbir, the movie would've never done 300 Crores. It was important for Ranbir to make himself believable to the audience as Sanjay Dutt. Without that, the audience would've rejected the movie. The movie was a biopic, so it was necessary for the lead actor to make a connect with the audience.

You seem to want to prove that Ranbir is a Flop actor. Okay fine, let's say that Ranbir is a Flop actor and has no stardom(Even though I don't believe it).But movies dont cross 300 Crores only because of stardom. Otherwise Race 3 would've also been a Blockbuster. For crossing 300 Crores, the movie needs to have a good WOM. And Ranbir's acting was important to ensure that the movie works in the long run.

Ranbir's other flop movies were not performance oriented, like Sanju because they were not biopics. Audience would've thrashed him if he wasn't convincing as Sanjay Dutt. So when he's getting accolades for his performance, that means he has a fair share in it's success.
