Hi Nupur,
I have read a lot of stuff on Mehrunnisa/Noorjahaan but not read this book that you have mentioned. It'll be fun though....reading about the most powerful woman of Mughal dynasty. She really was something....taking reins of the kingdom as her basically good-for-nothing hubby battled with alcohol and women-fixation.
Oh yes....I loved the book, but absolutely hooked on that aspect/period of history.
Noor-Jahan had so many shades to her, marrying the emperor at the age of...what 34-35 yrs. She was previoulsy married and had a daughter from that marriage, who later will be know as Mumtaz Mahal. Historians call her calulative and manipulative.....
I think the fact that a woman...that too during that period managed to rule the imperial kingdom so openly proves what a strong and smart woman she was!
Mughal period has a lot of intrigue.... passion...obesession....drama...in short bilkul filmi period of Indian history. And my interest has always been towards how the Royal harem played a very significant role....subtly but completely in controlling the emperor and his decisions.
And hence if Jodha was what they say she was...then I have no doubts that she had heavily influenced in Akbar's secular thought process!
All I say is....kaash what they showed was true.....!!!! 😊
