He had won the biggest empire of that time Persia or Faras he should have stopped there...my personal opinion...and he should have listened to his mother and come back...this is most tragic letter of a mother to her son ...
''Trust no one, that correneus, elipad, ptomely all Lykos waiting to take my lion. About Haphestian I am undecided, thou decide thyself. Now you have crossed the seas, proud be dinosyus of thou. You married a shining star; won wealth and glory. Eagle is fying highest; now is the time to come back to my embrace. For I have nothing but you. To whom shall I sing to sleep.I wish- I wish we could spend more time together. Like we used to when you were the sweetest boy. A mother loves too much and eternal; difficult to escape from a mother. One day, you will understand this. ''

Agree with you. He was busy in conquering the world but forgot to live. And,in the end he left empty handed.

His death at a young age is what makes him the stuff of legends. I don't think he would have been able to live as an old man, where his body would not be as strong. He would also want to be always on the move and be a conqueror. If he had lived longer, he may have conquered more lands, but then what? It had to end at some point. He would have to become more involved in administration than conquests, which would have probably bored him. 😆

Irrespective of how blind he was in pursuing his ambition and how he destroyed everyone who came in his way.. his life story is so tragic that it makes me emotional 😭

A beautiful, elegaic post, Surbhi. My felicitations.👏

This apart, I agree with Inlieu. Alexander was driven all his life, to go farther, climb higher, soar in the sky.He was like a blazing comet, that lights up the sky but mostly burns itself out.

That is a comet's fate. Alexander would not, I think, have been able to tolerate a staid, settled life, no matter how successful and splendid. He would always have hankered after one more adventure.

Then again, those whom the gods love die young. He wanted it seen that he left this world with khaali haath, so that would have been no regret for Alexander the Great.

He was NOT blinded by his ambition. He dreamt big dreams, and he had, except for the very end, the strength to realise those dreams.

All great conquerors sweep aside anything and anyone who blocks their path. Alexander was no exception.

Nor is there anything tragic about his life.He lived his life the way he wanted, and went out undefeated, in a blaze of glory that lights the pages of history and our collective memory even after 2300 years. That was what he wanted, naam, and he got it.Why should anyone feel sorry for him?

I do wish that he could have had an easier passing, without so much pain. That is all.
