Sanju became the highest grossing film of the year on Wednesday as it has accumulated a total of nearly 285 crore nett beating the 282 crore nett of Padmaavat. Sanju grossed around 6.25 crore nett on its second Tuesday.


The second week business of the film is heading for 91-92 crore nett and it will probably hit the 300 crore nett mark at the end of business on Saturday. This will make it the seventh film to hit 300 crore nett after PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Sultan, Dangal, Bahubali - The Conclusion, and Tiger Zinda Hai puttig it up there with the best of the decade. The footfalls look like being the lowest of all the 300 crore nett plus films with 3 crore footfalls not certain for the film.

I don't think it's "huge." The WOM just doesn't seem to be as strong as Dangal or BB.

Raju Hirani + Sanjay Dutt factor is primarily why it opened so big. Ranbir's performance and his presence of course helped, but as was the case with Padmavat, Sanju is a director's movie.

Sustaining at those high levels especially in a non-Christmas/New Year period is tough and that's why the weekdays' collections aren't matching weekend collections.

The footfalls are also not there. 3 crore footfall is the benchmark for huge blockbusters these days. Bahubali is an exception with over 5 crores. This will be the first 300 crore movie with less than 3 crore footfalls, so the whole adjusted ticket prices and multiplex driving this movie theories have proven to be true.

BOI will probably hand it the blockbuster verdict - similar to how Dhoom 3 became an ATBB without really hitting 3 crores footfalls.

Regardless, TZH is very much the target now. It depends on what happens in its third weekend.

I'm happy for Ranbir, he gave a great performance, I just highly dislike how they washed Sanjay's life like he was some victim and erased major incidents in his life(like his first wife & kid)
