It is no secret that the Telugu hit Arjun Reddy is being remade in Hindi, with Shahid Kapoor and Tara Sutaria stepping into the shoes of Vijay Devarakonda and Shalini Pandey's shoes respectively.
However, if a report in a leading daily is to be believed, Janhvi Kapoor was the original choice for the film. Apparently, Janhvi was in talks with the makers, but dropped out on mentor Karan Johar's insistence.
A source revealed that Karan does not want her to be a part of 'masala' action films at this point in her career. "He wants her to do glamorous roles, like the one in Dhadak. He suggested Tara's name, who he thought was a better choice for Arjun Reddy," the insider said.
Directed by Sandeep Vanga, who is also helming the remake, Arjun Reddy revolved around a hot-headed surgeon (Vijay Deverakonda in the eponymous role), who goes on a path of self-destruction after the love of his life, Preethi (Shalini Pandey), marries someone else.
