Harry Potter Books Make List of Top 50 Children's Books

The Telegraph has a new article online which notes the Harry Potter series and its inclusion on a list of the Top 50 Children's Books. The paper reports on a recent poll conducted by Booktrust, a charity promoting literacy for people of all ages, which asked 4,000 parents to choose the best children's books of all time. The sixth book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, came in at number six, and was the only book by author J. K. Rowling to make the list. The article goes on to suggest that while the Harry Potter books were the fastest selling in history, parents seemed to 'believe in the superiority of the books they enjoyed as children over modern stories.' The top ten books on this list were:

1. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, C. S. Lewis 2. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Eric Carle 3. Famous Five series, Enid Blyton 4. Winnie the Pooh, AA Milne 5. The BFG, Roald Dahl 6. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, J. K. Rowling 7. The Faraway Tree, Enid Blyton 8. The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame 9. Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
  • 10. The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson

  • The poll also found that four out of five parents spend an average of 22 minutes reading to their children each night and half began the bedtime reading when their child was six months old.

Why is HP at number six??? It should be at number ONE! I haven't read the other books but i am 100% sure no books in the whole world can be better than HP.... ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ˜†

According to me, HP should have been at number one....and it can't be denied, that HP has broken the record of all books in the world...its the fastest bestseller...

But like Bitasta (hope i am right about ur name) said, actually HP books are not children's book....HP books are read by all age, and they r loved by all kinds of people...

Maybe thats the reason HP isnt at number one, since they cant be really considered as children's book...

But it doesnt matter. I hope u all know that Deathly Hallows has got the award for the best book of the year! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Yeah! Loads of old Classics there! ๐Ÿ‘ ...and the reason I think that HP was not on number one, is that it is quite recent compared to the other books! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ The other ones are very old! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ...and have been read by one generation to another! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ณ ....So, I think they will still be remebered! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ‘

Even Jo would have probably read a couple those when she was a child! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ ...and I think she would be proud that her book is part off a list with so many other famous ones! ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜ณ

    She sure deserves it! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Thats exactly what i was saying....actually truely speaking HP books are not childrens book. They r books for the adults. HP's main theme is not MAGIC and all those fantastical things. HP's main theme is about the war between "good" and "evil" or u can say "love" and "power"....which is an element for adults, not children. And thats why HP is at number six.๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ƒ

But like i have said, HP Deathly Hallows have been awarded for best book of the year, and that award is for all kinds of books, not only childrens. And it prooves that HP is the best!๐Ÿ‘
