Actor Shakti Kapoor says villains are
disappearing from modern cinema.
The actor, who has portrayed several
negative characters, expressed his thoughts
when he became part of the TV show "High
fever... Dance ka Naya Tevar". He joined the
&TV show with Gulshan Grover, read a
statement to IANS.
In the episode, they enacted a romantic
sequence.
"Bollywood has always been adamant on
creating a unique experience for a villain's
character, but a romantic sequence by a
villain can only happen in the modern
times," Shakti said.
"As the trend is changing, and the villains
are disappearing in this modern cinema, an
actor has to be very versatile and good with
every role," he added.
Agreeing with his thoughts Gulshan said:
"Cinema has taken action to a whole new
level, we don't see anyone playing a
dedicated role of a villain in modern movies.
So, keeping the changing trend in mind, the
actors have to be good and engrossed in all
the roles."

He's right but villains were mostly typecast in all these action movies in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Shakti fits into that category although he did comedy and father roles which he deserves credit for.

When you look back at all those Action films from the 80s and 90s then you would realise how relevant these villains were. People like Shakti, Gulshan, Danny Denzongpa, Amrish Puri and ect had that passion and dedication of playing baddies on screen. Todays actors Nawazuddin wouldn't want to be typecast as villains hence why the trend has changed.

That is cause the lead actors these days are gutsy enough to play the grey characters. A refreshing trend started with SRK.! He did that when he wasn't even fully established as a hero makes it even more special.
