For BOI, a good film = a superhit (and above) film and a bad film = a flop film.

The analyst there won't look at a movie like Lootera as cinematic poetry. It's a flop and that's it.

As Hades said, many great movies have been theatrical flops. Actually, Martin Scorsese is like a rich man's Anurag Kashyap. His movies usually flop at the box office but he still makes them and gets such opportunities because he's a great filmmaker.

I would choose Bhavesh Joshi over a film like VDW any day. Motwane's movies are ahead of their times. They may not be commercially successful but do leave an imprint on the audience. Anyway, who will recall BO numbers years for now?

Now here this urban film is looking to get away with the profanities even though there is no need for them and they looked forced. The relatability of the characters also looks a problem for most the country especially ladies audience who seem to be the target. There are urban films which appeal to cities like Mumbai and Delhi but this film goes a step further to relate to an even more niche audience which will be English speaking crowds in maybe South Mumbai or South Delhi.

The film could have a big problem due to the limited relatability and profanities that it could be a tough task to sustain as families keep away. Also if the film was about young girls it may have excited the youth but this is about middle aged woman which could leave it nowhere.

Huh? Middle-aged women 😕 They refer to the 45-65 age group, the women in VDW are nowhere near middle-age! 😆 It's so weird these BOI "Aamir Khan looks Chinese" analysts only want new 18-25 girls to drool over, anyone older than that is a boring buddi amma 🤪

Udaan was a good film
But there is nothing even remotely remarkable about Lootera and Trapped...
I doubt Bhavesh Joshi has much going for it either... It's like people see a certain pace, lighting and color palette and start calling them classics
