Savithri ji is a big deal in south. One of the dialogues in that movie describes her aptly as "female form of nataraja.
Gemini ganesan mever married Rekha's mother. So technically Savithri ji was his second wife.

Well he actually had 3 legal wives. Rekha's mother was not his wife. He was married when he entered movies. Then married Savitri who is an actress..then had a relationship with Rekha's mother n then towards the end of his life he again married another lady. From the first three relationships he had 8 children. 7 girls n a boy. Most of them were bought up by his first wife as the other two ladies died young.
