The internet is a strange place and has a habit of digging out old photos of celebrities from archives. A two-year old picture of south actor Gemini Ganesan's daughters, including veteran actress Rekha, is being circulated across the internet and is now crazy viral.

In the picture, Rekha, gorgeous in a kanjeevaram saree, posed along with her sisters Jaya Shreedhar, Revathi Swaminathan, Kamala Selvaraj, Radha Usman Syed, Narayani Ganesan and Vijaya Chamundeswari. It was taken during the inauguration of a hospital in 2016.

The image, reports suggest, surfaced in the wake of the release of south film Mahanati - a biopic on Gemini Ganesan's third wife Savitri. More on that later but for now, take a look at this beautiful frame.

Gemini Ganesan has four daughters with his first wife Alamelu - Revathi, Kamala, Jayalakshmi and Narayani. With his second wife Pushpavalli, Ganesan has two daughters - Rekha and Radha. (Also Read: Evergreen Rekha revisits her Umrao Jaan avatar, to appear on Rising Star 2, watch promo)

Savitri and Ganesan are parents to two children - daughter Vijaya Chamundeswari and son Satheesh Kumar.

Mahanati, meanwhile, has been censured by Kamala Selvaraj as she is upset with her father's portrayal in the film, reports The New Indian Express. Titled Nadigaiyar Thilagam in Tamil, Mahanati casts Keerthy Suresh as Savitri and Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan.

"The film leaves you wondering where the facts end and the fiction begins. It does gross injustice to all the children of Gemini and has defamed our father. What has been shown on screen is a one-sided version that glorifies Savitri and bluntly ignores many other aspects of her life, Kamala Selvaraj was quoted as saying by The New Indian Express.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Mahanati released on May 9.
