Also when Lajja was made, there was Jackie Shroff, Ajay Devgan in it while it was an out and out female oriented movie.

I think the thing is while this may be true to some extent, if the A-listers have a pivotal role and maybe friendly relations with the filmmaker or starring actors then they might do it. And I think that's true for actresses also. Other than Katrina, Jackie etc who thrive on small roles in big films, the other actresses mostly go for small roles if they are pivotal or if they have friendly relations with the makers. Nobody will lower their standards just like that.

And which role does Sonam want A listers to play in Neerja? 😕

Neerja's husband? His face was not even shown properly in the movie 😆

Or Neerja's male friend? 😕

Also in Piku there was Big B. Isn't he an A lister?

I am sorry but the above logic is flawed ..

You seem to have confused doing movies with doing charity work or something .. Why should an A lister male actor be obliged to work in a female centric movie unless/until he is genuinely excited about the project and thinks it will add something substantial to his career ?

Doing charity for female centric movies is not going to help either of the genders ..

Coming to female actors taking up small roles in male centric movies , they do it out of their own choice to stay relevant .. If anything , female A listers are to be blamed for taking up such flowerpot roles .. But except for Kareena , I don't see any top A lister actress taking up a flower pot role in a male centric film .. Look at Deepika , she is practically jobless .. I respect that .. Even Sridevi refused to star against Amitabh until the role was substantial enough for her .. Flowerpot roles are better left for the likes of Jacqueline & Daisy Shah .. It helps them , it doesn't help A listers .. Similarly there were articles about Sunny Deol complaining how none of the current A list actresses are willing to work with him .. Can you blame these actresses ? .. I think not .. It seems to be a wise decision on their part ..

Sonam practically complains about everything , so can't take her seriously even if part of what she is saying ( pay disparity among equals ) is true ..

^ I was about to write this... Why wud they do it, koi charity thodi hai... In an industry where one hit or flop makes or breaks the career, why wud anybody want to take such risk... after all everyone here is for business not charity

She is right : A list actresses are expected to play second fiddle to heroes but A list actors won't reciprocate !

Also, having an A lister male actor in women oriented films is bound to take away focus from the female leads about which is the story. Who knows whether they are even approached..

Not getting it.

After going through struggles and set backs and finally achieving a stable position after years, why would a A Lister do Sumeets role in Veere?

For what? Does it have a good role or good money or prestige or what?

And about Katrina doing small roles, that was in the beginning. Who would offer her meaty roes, for what at that point?

Later after gaining box office clout she did MBKD, Raajneeti, tiger I and ii, Baar Baar Dekhoi, fitoor, bang bang. Better roles, more impactful. If her solo films had been hits, maybe she would hv tried for heroine oriented ones. But BBD and fitoor flopped.
