Impractical Potrayal...

I was an ex-YHM viewer as well. And you are right Dragon, the show was based on a novel 'Custody' by Manju Kapur and even the names of all the characters in YHM are straight from the novel. The show was very good and moving at a right pace for almost 12-18 months, but then lost its plot and started dragging eventually...As rightly pointed out by you, this would not have happened if they stopped at where the Novel ended...but no...Ekta has to somehow repeat all her cliched storylines in all her shows...and the worst part is people still continue to watch it and give TRP's🤔...Indian audience are to be blamed for supporting such regressive content on television. Infact, I would rephrase that to say Indian audience all over the world especially the UK are to be blamed ...YHM is still number 1 show not only on SP, but across all the asian channels here! I stopped following the show ever since the first leap happened (I guess for seven years)...but have heard about the storyline since then from new articles & from people who still continue to watch it...I have now lost the count for the number of times Ishita has been to jail! And now looks like she will again be back in jail for killing her own son! Pathetic is the word...for people who continue to support shows like this!

U r right...this was one of the reasons I loved Naamkarann...the character sketches were kept intact till the last except some weird behaviour of AvNeil. No positive negative transitions. N for that reason, I m glad the show ended. Or else we would have seen this even in Naamkarann, cuz the CVS simply can't think the simple tracks like we do n they start butchering the characters for the sake of new twists...n we could already see the start of it with Neil n Avni being butchered to an extent in last few days.

About yhm, they have really lost it. Killing off the only loved addition post leap as an actor n character is a bad decision when there r loads of useless characters in the show. Ruhi will stay just because she was integral to the initial story, no matter how much the viewers dislike the character n actress now but Adi is like kachra, jab Mann Kiya hata Diya. Till yesterday I really didn't believe Abhishek is really leaving, I expected another ekta special coming back from dead.

But along with the weird mindset of Indian viewers, there is another fact that we can't ignore is the fans like us who love the actors n the lead pairs like crazy. N in the name of watching our favourite, we watch whatever is given to us. N this applies to every show right from yhm to NK. The biggest reason y yhm still gets trp is the fans crazy love for the chemistry of DivAn. Had Naamkarann continued like forever, we would watch that too for AdiZa no matter how much we would crib about the story...we had a glimpse of this in the last month.

So i think it's not the mindset of viewers that needs to be changed but that of the makers should , because for viewers, story is not the only reason to watch a show!
