For a person who believes in marriage and its sacredness, mangalsutra means a lot. And she or he will not violate it whatever the situation is. But we cant say that everyone believes in marriage believe in MS too.

Adi was ready to lie to get the contract, so Zoya thought he would tie MS on her to get the contract too and she believes he does not care. And I agree with Adi understands the pureness of MS and what that thread means to Zoya. He was hesitant to do it, where he did not care about either Virani's or the contract, all he cared was for Zoya. He backed off just because it was Zoya who stood opposite him.

And I absolutely in love with how you connected the MS to the couple. In our recent days, it does not mean that much because couples come closer before they tie MS, but in the old society, it means a lot. It is not just a thread, it is the girl's trust, that with this thread on my neck, the man who tied it will be there protecting her. And the power an MS gives you is a lot concerning how much power you get from a paper. He comes closer to her to tie it, again she was the first time allowing a man to come closer to her. That is a huge thing when the girl has been not in the presence of men that much.

All he has seen is the cruel side of the life and Zoya is a freshness into it. He hasn't met someone that naive and innocent, though sometimes she can show him his place. She is someone he likes to challenge because she reacts to it the way he wants and one thing we cannot avoid, he brings the best and the worst from her, we are yet to see the best and it is same for him too. 😳

I love to read your posts because you think soo differently but awesomely. I was late to read this but could not stop from replying. Better late than never right?

They might have been cheated but they still respect the custom of marriage. They might take time to get tied to it again willingly but when they do they will respect the institutions with its full meaning.

Mahi is going to bring them together despite her reverse action. Afterall reverse psychology does work. 😆

Keechu.

@Keechu MS is not about a man protecting a woman. Copy pasting from another post I wrote as I cannot type it again. Mantra recited during the MS tying ceremony is as follows
Mangalyam tantunanena mama jeevana hetuna: kanthe badhnami subhage twam jeeva sarada satam ( Meaning:"This is a sacred thread. This is essential for my long life. I tie this around your neck O maiden having many auspicious attributes. May you live happily for a hundred years (with me).)

A husband trusts his life with his wife when he ties the mangalsutra around her neck. A wife by accepting the thread agrees to ensure she behaves in such a way that at no point he has to stand in front of society with bowed head because of her. She agrees to be his strength. And the husband promises to respect her always for what she is doing for him.

It is a very sacred symbol if you know its meaning. And it is not child's play. The marriage rituals of Sanathana Dharma or Hinduism has lot of deeper meanings . But unfortunately the beauty is destroyed by tweaking it by the patriaichial brahmincal societies that came to existence around 15th century, followed by both Muslim Invasion and then British colonial rule.

@ Shruti

I didn't mean that MS is about a man protecting a woman physically. 😳 I agree with the deep side of it, it is a trust they both are willing to have on each other emotionally.

And I have heard that mantra but not its actual meaning so thanks for telling me.

Btw I'm Keechu. And I think we both are from Kerala. 😃
