Kareena..the longest running A list Actress at a stretch!!?

The longest a leading lady has survived as an A list top actress without any "comeback"

kareena has ruled 18 years non stop and the only year she had no release was 2017 but she did not go on a break..or had a point where she was out of work and no term "comeback" has been used for her this far..coz she has constantly made movies with leading roles and thats 18 long years

kajol..aish..rani..preity..you name it..all have had this term "comeback" attached to them way before completing 18 years..

Is kareena the longest running A list actress to have worked for 18 years without a definite break and without a second innings/comeback thus far?

No, her last few releases had very small roles of her like Singham returns, RA-1, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and more.

Not sure but perhaps Rekha has been the leading lady for longest.

Well, she is one of the longest running A-list actress, if not the longest.

Having said that, I would not consider this to be that big of an achievement. Most of her filmography for the last 6-8 years or so consist of mainly flowerpot roles in big budget films like Singham, Ra1, Bajrangi Bhaijaan etc. Most of these films are hits, but honestly their successes cannot be credited to her.

As for her being an "A-lister": coming from the kapoor family, she is considered an ''elite'' and part of BW's ''in'' crowd. So that does help her in sustaining her ''A-list'' image despite not consistently delivering throughout her acting career.

cant believe it's been 18 years already...

she still looks jus as pretty as when she started...

she has had a great career but i honestly feel she didnt use her full potential... despite working all these years she still wont be a legend like sridevi, madhuri etc

I think its Rekha.

Even her contemporaries like Hema Malini etc started doing mature roles later in the late 80s after the arrival of new actresses like Sridevi, Jaya Prada, Meenakshi etc.

But Rekha continued to do lead roles till mid 90s. So IMO Rekha is the longest running A-list actress, from 1970-1995.. 25 years as a lead actress without any break or comeback or a single year without any release.

Rekha had a film release every year from 1969 to 2003.

That's 35 years.

It you want to be pedantic and say wasn't the lead in her last few films, then okay fine, we can scale it back to 2001 which was the last time in that period in which she was the "heroine" of a film (Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachao)

Also, Hema Malini had a longer run that Kareena. 1968-1989. 22 years as lead heroine.

Vyjayanthimala also had a 22-yea run, with no gaps.

Let's not ignore the fact Kareena had zero releases in 2017. The others mentioned above have not had this gap (despite Hema Malini even becoming pregnant twice during this time).

Sridevi I think had a 21 year run as lead heroine. From around 1976/7 to 1997.

And the sentence "Kareena ruled for 18 years" is untrue. Did she "rule" in 2001? No, she barely made her debut that year. She wasn't even ruling in 2002 or 2003 or 2004 or 2005. That was Rani-Ash-Preity era, she was in 4th place during those days. She started ruling from 2007. But by 2009 the likes of Katrina had overtaken her popularity, and Vidya had overtaken her in terms of acting talent. Priyanka was also breathing down her neck heavily 2008-2012 era.

And by 2013 it was all about Deepika. And still is as of 2018.

ruled for 18 years? what? ruled for 18 years? She was invisible for 8 years .Flowerpot roles in this decade does not signify ruling.

Sawan Bhadon released in 1970, not 1969. Also post 1996, starting from Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi (in which Raveena was the lead), she started doing mature roles/supporting roles like Zubeida, Lajja, Udaan etc.

So i dint counted post 1996. But till 1995, she did movies only as the lead. Anyways, Rekha is indeed the longest running A-list actress without any break!
