Classical Conditioning - AdiYa Analysis

Well , Adi has conditioned himself to believe that Zoya is his emotional punchbag .So when he sees Zoya it's a sort of catharsis ; inexplainable of course .
Adi met Pooja when he was very young thus I presume he wouldn't have projected this sort of anger towards Poo (i.e resentment over his mother ) she would've been his emotional get away .

Since both the roles essentially serve the same purpose his conditioning makes him relate Zoya to Poo (his love) . So when he calls her Mehboob , and talks about how things woul've been if they were ein another lifetime etc it's his subconscious merging roles .

The kind of proximity Zo and Adi share is too much too soon and both of them are comfortable because somewhere both of them have conditioned themselves to the other to get an emotional foothold .

Thus , his affection and song today was his subconscious , accepting what it's done to him and his super ego telling him it would only be right in another lifetime .

PS : Credits to Ivan Pavlov for the theory of Classical Conditioning . The rest I take credit for ! As you can see I have a pathetic sense of humor

Being a Psychology student and having just given my exams, it makes me so happy seeing someone use these terms properly lol
But I do agree with what you're saying. The thing is that since Zoya is the only one except directly related to this cheating equation, he channels all his anger towards her since he can't take it out on the people who actually deserved it, like Pooja and Yash.

Okay so I maybe taking a long shot here and pulling the psychodynamic perspective into play but this whole thing is kinda like transference neurosis, except Zoya is not his therapist. Also, he's not substituting her for the exact emotions he felt for Pooja but you know... Zoya is kind of the medium he's using to express his anger. Another thing, he has referred to Zoya as Pooja when he's been intoxicated/tired/sleepy.

I love analysing Aditya's behaviour lol sorry.

Freud would've been so proud of us . Yes people use psychological terms as and how they please way too much 😆

More of a case of transference I feel , now that you brought that up . But the resolution to this .. I don't know how they'll show that on the show because I already feel he's in the whole resistance phase already .
