Certain I heard of this film months ago and like all other promotions the posters, articles and release of promo songs occurred.

Film may have not done well as it's an acquired taste put blaming it on lack of promotions.

Not believing that.

It was promoted the usual way how Shoojit films are promoted.
Even for Piku they had only 3/4 days promotions and very minimal stuff done.

"Shoojit Da is not permitting us to go all out to promote October. I even enquired from his production team about the number of days that will be required for promotion. Normally it's always between 15 to 25 days but when I was informed that I will be required for five days, I was bit shocked. Shoojit Da reasoned that if I were to go extensive for the promotions, chances are I might just reveal something from the plot, informs Varun.

No it wasn't.. not half of what other regular movies are.. internet hype means nothing.. and even that was so less for this movie.
Most of my friends and family don't even know this film exists..

There is a poster of VD outside my appartment in UAE.
The song Tu mere sang rehna keeps playing on TV. VD went to TV shows to promote the movie! What lack of promo, God only knows.

Did Alia COPY Varun's promotional strategy?

Alia Bhatt follows Varun Dhawan's footsteps to promote Raazi!

Varun Dhawan's latest release October has been garnering a lot of appreavtion from all quaters. The film which depicts an unique love story from the vision of Shoojit Sircar, had distinct ways of promotion the film.

Varun Dhawan did a lot of firsts for the film including a Twitter live right before the trailer launch so that the audiences in the theater which included media and his fans, could see him enroute the theater and talk about the film.

This went live on the big screen in the theater. This is for the first time any actor has attempted to do such an interactive promotion and it worked well for the actor as all were hooked on to him and the trailer with this activity.

Recently, Alia Bhatt did the same. Raazi trailer is attached to October. Since both films are driven by content, their audience is quite similar.

During one of the screenings of October, Alia went live on Facebook after the Raazi trailer was played on the big screen. The audience sitting in the theater could see the actress on screen and also interact with her through Facebook.

With the similar orientation of the film, it makes sense for Alia to follow the lead of Varun!

Heavy promotion leads to increase in budget of film ( i dont know i may be wrong abt this) so if it is true than on one hand some people r saying it is made in controlled budget, on another hand some people r saying it is not promoted properly, so to make the film in controlled budget they have not promoted the film heavily (if it is true). so u can get only one thing either controlled budget or heavy promotions.
As per BOI budget of the film is RS.35 crores.
