Ekta Kapoor to bring Kamasutra on web; her boldest digital move?

Soap queen Ekta Kapoor is now on a mission to conquer the web space with her diverse digital content. Be it making a strong case for women empowerment in Nimrat Kaur-starrer Test Case, delving into the curious case of Subhash Chandra Bose's mysterious disappearance in Bose: Dead or Alive, making the first-ever sensitive series on gay romance Romil and Jugal, to creating the record-breaking Mona Singh-Ronit Roy starrer Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai, Ekta has been on a roll.

And now possibly in her boldest digital move, Ekta is set to adapt Vatsyayana's Kamasutra for web.

According to Mid Day, the show will have a backdrop of Rajasthani folk and will tell the story of Goli caste in Rajasthan.

It is believed that the female population of the caste used to serve as concubines to the kings. They stayed in the same palace as queens and enjoyed luxuries. They also enjoyed a fair amount of freedom and rights.

According to the Mumbai tabloid, Ekta has been wanting to adapt Kamasutra for a long time now, and is herself supervising the scripting process.

"The scripting is underway with Ekta supervising it. Simultaneously, she is also on the lookout for a director who will be able to handle the subject with the required sensitivity and aesthetics. India is the land of Kamasutra and it's essential to throw the spotlight on the culture without passing moral judgment, a source close to the project told the tabloid.
