i remember i did do a post when i saw the pictures of state funeral. i was stunned.

now that they have given state funeral to Sridevi and Sashi Kapoor, there will be other bollywood celebs, be it actors, actresses, musicians, etc.. their family, family, bollywood, requesting.for state funerals. i wonder how they going to pick and choose , who gets it and who doesn't.

the state funerals should be only reserved for soldiers of the country, and who ever protects the civilians. period. it shouldn't be even given to the corrupt politicians or policeman.

lol. bollywood actors walk with bodyguards to protect themselves, so scared that no harm should be done to them, like i said before, some even have spot boys carry an umbrella for them, protecting them from sun and rain. what the hell they did for the country. we pay to get entertained from them. they don't do it for free.they get all the luxury. how are they equal to soldiers of country?

Can't believe someone actually filed an RTI, a known political figure questioned about the same in a rally to gain political mileage, there are debates and discussions happening on social media about 'state honours' being given to a person who is not just a legendary actress but has been a spotless citizen of India when it came to any kind of crime, has not disrupted peacefulness of a country, has always brought people of all walks of life together in the theatre to get entertained and has won one of the biggest awards given by the Government of India for the same.

However, on the other hand, none of these politicians or citizens raised a voice or filed an RTI nor did the Government or the police take any action against those people who wrapped the dead body of the accused in Dadri lynching in the national flag without any order by the state or otherwise,thereby violating the Flag Code of India. Those people were rather supported by social media for giving a tribute to a real desh bhakt like that guy who was accused of killing Akhlaq. I'm sometimes appalled looking at the priorities people have in this country!

Also, it's very important to know that a state funeral has nothing to do with patriotism. I have massive respect for the army for what they do but we need to stop bringing them in into every debate that revolves around the country. The Padma awards are given to people of different fields because they have contributed in their respective field for so long. Same goes with state funerals. They aren't restricted to just actors. It's for those special people across all fields including defence. Gangubai Hangal, Bhimsen Joshi, Mother Teresa, Shashi Kapoor...none of them held guns and stood at border and protected us but we all know what kind of contribution they have made in their respective field, which is unmatchable and hence deserve a state funeral.

Would beg to differ here. If you made a great contribution to any field you worked in, be it science, arts, literature, politics, defence, law, sports, it needs to be recognized.

Sridevi united the nation and provided joy and countless smiles across generations and industries. She was an artist par excellence and deserved the accolades she was accorded with.

Just because some (or many) politicians or cops are corrupt, we shouldn't lump everyone together and tag them as corrupt.

However, it is a subjective thing and there will always be debate as to who deserved it and who didn't, and there is no end to it.
