The first quarter which has seen a huge rise in NETT ticket prices from the first quarter of last year due to GST will come to and end with Baaghi 2 and the film has potential due to the action. The holiday factor and the action will give it a opening for sure which will be the one of the biggest of the quarter and it will not be a huge surprise if its get the best opening day of 2018 if all goes well.
The surprise is that the film has not been released on Thursday which is Mahavir Jayanti and very good for box office collections. This would have given it a four day weekend starting with Mahavir Jayanti (Thursday) and then Good Friday (Friday). When a film like Baaghi 2 has the potential to open then every holiday makes a huge difference, even more so considering the genre is front loaded.
The advance of the film opened a day early at multiplexes but that makes little difference to a film like this which is more of a on the day film rather than an advance film. Some advance for the holiday (Good Friday) can happen but overall tickets sold for a Tiger Shroff action film for the weekend is not going to be huge. Despite the advance the opening can still be big due to the mass audience on the day.
There has been a hue and cry over the Ek Do Teen song from which is a remix from the 1988 film Tezaab but it hardly matters as the the target of the film is the youth which will find the Baaghi 2 version better and many have probably not seen the earlier version.
The talk coming from the crowd that its not a patch on the earlier version (which may even be true) is irrelevant because they are not really the audience for Baaghi 2. This bad mouthing of the song will make no difference to the initial of the film as its probably not hated as much as its made out to be by the mass and youth. If it was then obviously it puts a strong start in danger.
If the film has an issue then its the fact that the last two films (Munna Micheal, A Flying Jatt) of Tiger Shroff have not fared well which can sometimes take the sheen of a star especially when the genres are the same. If this film was coming after Baaghi (2016) there is no doubt that with a trailer like this it could have even been the highest opening ever by a young actor.
The opening is also crucial as the first Baaghi had a well developed love story around the action which gives it more chance of a Monday hold while this film is more of action film so its about that big weekend which should happen though a Thursday release would have made it even bigger.
