Is reservation based on caste a good idea in this modern india?

You have asked very tricky question and answer is not as simple as it seems. First of all let me be clear that I come under general category. The discrimination among people in our country is caste based and not on financial condition based. Its very easy to say that people under category have good home, education etc. May be the people living around you have, its not universal norm. 90% people under reservation live in villages according to data and only fiction of them actually take advantage of reservation system. If you check the data clearly , we general category people have been allotted seats more than the percentage of our population. I know my veiws are not necessarily to be welcomed by so many people and i also do not support this system . it always amaze me how people in our country want to remove reservation system but not caste system. However we hate reservation system, we are yet to find the alternative. To remove the reservation, we have to remove discrimination based on caste and for that , caste and caste based gathering have to be declared illegal. Do you think its possible in India ?
