Now we all have loved the precap where Naina pins a flower on Sameer's coat and we all are eagerly waiting for that scene, aren't we?
But what are these flowers on the coat called as? And why do men wear them?
Boutonniere that's what they are called in the fashion world. Boutonniere/s (can be a single flower or small bunch of them) became popular in 19th Century England, where men were spotted with a single flower or bud on the left lapel of their coats for occasions like wedding, formal events, birthdays, etc. Later the fashion spread across the world and we have seen many Indian men wearing a flower on their coat, or sherwani jacket especially in weddings.
Now when a male sports a flower on his coat, it signifies that nothing adds panache to a man's appearance like the confidence embodied in wearing a stylish boutonniere. Sameer till the time he sported a flower, looked like a charming teenager who is enjoying the wedding with his love. But the addition of a boutonniere suddenly makes him look like the gentleman that he is.
Boutonnieres are a symbol of fragile life, of beauty in nature, of love undefined yet captured in a single bloom. The boutonniere on Sameer's coat was pinned by none other than his lady love Naina, symbolizing her undefined love for him which was captured in this single bloom- a beautiful pink rose.
Many times the flower that makes up the boutonniere is of a similar color as that of the dress of the woman present for the occasion. Just like that, Naina also chose a blush pink rose for her man which somewhat matches with her pink-shaded outfit, indicating to Sameer that you and me are linked with this color of love and that no other color can ever match with your boutonniere.
Boutonnieres as I mentioned are pinned on the left lapel of the coat. Many times our desi outifts don't have a lapel and hence the boutonniere can be worn near the button hole or near the pocket square on the left side of the coat. As Sameer's outfit doesn't have the lapel, Naina tucked the beautiful flower just near the area of the pocket square of his coat. The location of the flower is exactly near his heart symbolizing that no one other than her can ever mark this territory. The way she authoratively (Sameer pe mera Haq that she talked about yesterday) pinned the flower on his coat (without even thinking about anyone watching them) indicates that she has now finally sealed his heart with her infinite love and this beautiful flower is the symbol of it. No one other Naina can ever take the top position in his heart, and finally her mission is complete as she has now filled all the empty compartments of his heart with her love and care.
Who said they are teenagers in love? They are a man and a woman so much in love with each other, that the only destination their love can ever have is to be pronounced as Man and Wife!
