I think she mentions she is comfortable only in Indian wear. I think the makers tehmselves forgot their Peherdar in tracks. The best romantic scene for me was in the forest where she sprains her ankle and Ratan carries her back and does not puther down even after he sees the elders.

May be... but i think if she is comfortable in indian wear then she is not allergic to wester wear also😉😆

The reason for her to wear the dress is that... KM did say that right? She need to please Ratan and keep him happy as a wife? ITV will not let its saas mouth kiss. But Nitya bua said that to KM.

That to me is inconsistency and comodification. We may agree to disagree.

diya was adverse to wearing short dresses not western dresses. she has worn track suit before. lets not forget that. if you go back and see the scene, you will notice when she got it, she was bothered by the length of it and not the fact that it was western. she has no issues with modern thinking. she said very clearly that she doesnt want to be "ultra" modern.

what KM said is that ratan want the portrait in western clothes and after the mess the least she can do is make him happy by letting the western portait happen and not trying to get her way always...that does not imply please him by attracting him. i do not see the two things to imply the same thing. tomorrow if she were told ratan bought her a traditional saree and she should wear it to make him happy, should se also see that as her being asked to woo him and please him sexually? pleasing someone and making them happy are two very different things.

exactly nitya bua said it to KM. so why would diya know about it.

you keep on saying this is inconsistent with diya's character. how can something she doesnt know and didnt do for the reason of sexually pleasing her husband make her character inconsistent? you have still not been able to answer that question yet. was she supposed to telepathically guess what nitya told KM? was she supposed to telepathically guess what KM is thinking? and that too when she knows ratan and this is being sold to her as something ratan would like for portrait?

you cannot throw what KM and Nitya are thinking at Diya face as inconsistency in her character of theirs.

commoditisation...you may not like it. it is real in our world. and showing it as happening and then diya fight it is something i don't have issues with.
