of Jhansi has been in the headlines for quite
a while now. It has been facing objection
from Sarva Brahman Mahasabha, a Brahmin
group from Rajasthan as they think that the
film has distorted facts.
The writer of the film, KV Vijayendra Prasad
has said that the film does not portray Rani
Laxmibai's character wrongly at all. "The
film's title is
Manikarnika, because it is her name. Her
parents named her that because she was
born in Kasi and the Manikarnika Ghat there
is very famous. Even I named my daughter
Manikarnika, so you now know how much I
respect Rani Laxmibai, he said in a
statement.
And now, Kangana has come out in support
of her movie. The actor said that the crew is
hurt by such allegations.
Kangana told a leading news agency, 'It is
very lowly (neech
baat) to even think like that about Rani
Laxmibai. We cannot even think like that, the
kind of things they are saying. What they are
saying is actually defaming. There is nothing
like that. It is idle talk and I don't know why
it is being said.''
"We are hurt and upset. The writer of the
film, Vijayendra Prasad has named his
daughter Manikarnika. We are hurt that such
things are being said about Rani Laxmibai,
she added.
Kangana's magnum opus was initially slated
to relase on April 27, however, the film has
now been postponed to a later date.
Earlier, at a fashion event, when Kangana
was asked about the release of Manikarnika,
she had said, "The film was scheduled to
release on April 27, but due to the VFX in the
film, I think it has gone to the end of the
year (Jo pehle film 27 April ko aane wali thi,
magar hum logon ka jo vfx hai, usko karke, I
think it has gone to the end of the year.) The
production house is planning to announce
the release date in a big way. So, please wait
for that."
