Same scenario , same makeup , same scenario - > Lets have irrfan Khan doing a scene and lets have Hrithik do the same scene.. ( I am not saying Irrfan is ugly, he is a normal guy when compared to greek god Hrithik ) Who would have a more better impact in terms of acting performance?

For me I am unable to go beyond a person's face if they are too good looking and that kind of takes away their acting impact ( again for me )

Same with Aishwarya Rai I feel..

What is your opinion on this?!

PS : I should have been clear , this post is becoming a Irrfan vs Hrithik thread. It doesn't have to be Hrithik , it can be any actor who is known for his good looks.. and same with Irrfan , it can be any actor who looks more like a average common man

Not really. It depends on the role. Hrithik can easily do wat Irrfan does. But, dont think Irrfan can ever do a Dhoom 2, Krrish, Akbar, Agneepath, Bang Bang, Lakshya.

It is just that Uglier actors who act in small budget films get overpraised by couple of JNU passout critics. Even if they play easy n same type of roles. It used to happen even in old days too when Smita Patil got praised more than she deserved. She hammed in Namak Halal film n yet got praised.

Sridevi, Rekha n Madhuri were both Good looking n Good actors. They cud do both Mainstream as well as Art cinema. So are Hrithik, Aamir and Ranbir.

Not in my opinion... a good-looking actor lose their appeal once they are on screen with their poor acting. I like watching them off-screen or in photos.
I have never found Aishwarya Rai beautiful when she's acting, she is irritating to look at sometimes even though she looks drop-dead gorgeous!

Basically, charm/charisma and/or good acting takes you a looong way in acting, regardless of physical appearance.

I dont think so. but some of the good looking bad actors believe in this theory😆

stars who are not good-looking are often considered 'good actors' : Didi Kapoor
actors getting rejected due to their attractiveness: Bhai Kapoor

So are you saying that actors like Madhuri, Kareena, Aamir etc are not beautiful? Their good looks didn't "overshadow" their performances. 🥱

This topic did remind me of Sonam during Ranjhna I think?
Anyways no, Shradha doesnt let her beauty overshadow her performance, because she cant perform.
On the other hand, Deepika can perform and act as well(piku).

Priyanka might not look like Mary Kom, but she exhibited enough strength in her performance as Mary Kom.

No... but it does highlight limited or lack of acting skills. 😳

More than acting or looks, it is about charisma and screen presence, which is needed to hold audience attention. Irrfan is an actor, Hrithik is a Hero, both have their own set of strengths and weaknesses. But if there is a role which can be played by both the actors, I think Irrfan will still score more, because despite not being a mainstream actor, Irrfan still has a stronger screen presence than Hrithik.

Looks help in popularity, but screen presence and acting is more important.

I think it will be other way round. Hrithik will overshadow Irrfan. Bcoz he is one person who has everything. Looks, Strong Screen Presence, Acting and Popularity. Not to forget Physique and Dance.

You think Hrithik can play Irrfan's roles in Paan Singh Tomar, The Lunchbox, Piku, Talvar, Madaari, Hindi Medium or even Gunday ??

What Hrithik was doing in Dhoom 2, Krrish, Bang Bang was not even acting. He was just doing action and flexing his muscles.

According to this forum logic, any actor who plays extraordinary characters also becomes an extraordinary actor. That's not true at all. Playing a common person is very difficult for a mainstream actor, because they just can't put their star aura behind.

Also playing an ordinary character, and still leaving a mark requires some special talent.
