Chapter Nine

The day was spent with Anika and Gauri making plans on how they are going to decorate and talking to saumya and other family members.

Next Day

Roka Ceremony

The roka was going to be held today and anika and gauri had already decorated the house with hangings and fairylights. Pink and white flowers were decorating the mansion which was the colour theme of the roka ceremony.

They would occasionally find shivaay looking at Annika and gauri would look at them confused, it was so easy for them to be together but Annika was holding back, why? Gauri didn't know their history but their present chemistry was enough indication that they were made for each other. The way shivaay made Annika blush by only looking at her, how he would help her indirectly in the preperations and the way he would just brush past her leaving her blushing head to toe. Watching them was ridiculous though, because the tension between them was too much to handlefor her. Never been in a relationship herself gauri felt nauseated just looking at them.

Currently Annika and gauri were decorating the seating area for to be bride and groom. Annika turned to gauri but gauri sat the bending her head down. When Annika made her look up she saw that there were tears in her eyes. "arre gauri tu ro kyun rahi hai?

"vo bas, kabhi kisi ne humein ... aise.. and she could say more as she hugged Annika.

Daadi got up and seeing her gauri and Annika stood up too. "puttar tu ro kyun rahi hai, jaise Annika hai mere liye vaise hi tu bhi hai aur tu mujhe daadi bulati hai na toh mera bhi haq hai ki mai tujhe khub pyaar dun. Haina? hearing dadi say this gauri hugged daadi and thanked her. all the while she could feel someone looking at her and as she wiped her tears she looked at where the boys were and she saw that omkara was looking at her.

Rudra was talking to his brothers but he realised that he wasn't getting any response from them so he looked at them and then saw where they were looking, he stood up and his expression was like haaww' as he saw that both of them were looking at Annika and gauri who were just as lost looking at them.

Rudy sat down on the floor with a cry "main toh bilkul akela reh gaya, mere dono bhai nikamme ho gaye hai, ladkiyan taad(ghoor) rahe hain.. ahhh rudy screamed as omkara pulled his ear and shivaay hit him on his head. There gauri and Annika looked at each other and at them slightly blushing.

"shivaay yaar, samjha ise om said annoyed at his brother and this just started a funny argument between the brothers and everyone else enjoyed there banter.

The time for the ceremony came and Saumya and Rudra exchanged rings. The elders gave them gifts and blessings. The function went well and daadi appreciated Annika and gauri's work. "Annika? daadi came behind her and Annika turned to face her. "puttar apna haath toh dikha. Confused at daadi's demand, Annika showed her hand to her. daadi smiled and held her wrist and made her wear a pair of heavy gold bangles. As soon as Annika saw what dadi was doing she tried to take her hand back but daadi held tight. "daadi ye aap... main yeh kaise le saqti hun?

"ab tu meri baat nahi maanegi Annika, kya mujhe itna bhi haq nahi hai tujhpar ki main tujhe kuch de sakun? dadi asked and Annika shook her head "aapka toh mujhpe pura haq hai daadi, ek aap jhi ho jo hamesha mera saath dete ho Annika said and started crying. Daadi hugged her and kissed her forehead.

After daadi left Annika looked at the bangles lost in thought when suddenly gauri came and held her wrist. "arre itne sundar kangan.. kisne diye?

Annika smiled and told her that daadi gave them to her. "yahan par sab aapse bahot pyaar karte hain na? gauri asked and after a moment of thinking Annika answered. "haan

Staying in oberoi mansion was emotionally challenging for her as everywhere she went she had memories, memories that she kept close to her heart. And then there was shivaay who kept finding ways to talk to her but she didn't want that, she wanted to be strong enough to resist the temptation he poses; she knew she would just run back to him if he gets past her barriers. When she thought about it, if she hadn't left all those months ago, how would her life be? Shivaay respected her, yes, but he didn't think that she was an equal in their relationship, he wanted to be in control and his naam khoon and khandaan would always stop him from taking their relationship further. Does he love her, what does he want from her? All those questions plagued her and exhausted her when she thought about this. Annika sighs and goes to see saumya as they hadn't got any time to talk properly.

Omkara was distracted since the day Annika and gauri came to their house. There was something about gauri that fascinated him and he was curious to know about her but he stopped himself. He was never like this, desperate; he was the epitome of patience. Whenever he couldn't see her, he felt anxious and couldn't concentrate on his work. So he decided to set up in open; from where he could keep an eye on her.

He was in the garden, working on one of his sculptures when he saw gauri coming out holding a basket which looked heavy. He saw as she denied the servant who went to help her and she kept walking unaware that he was looking at her. Suddenly she jerked and the basket fell from her hands. He saw as she was bent forward holding her hand. He realised she got hurt.

Omkara quickly went to her. "gauri? gauri looked up at him with a pained expression. Omkara looked around and saw that she had tripped on uneven ground. "tum thik ho?

Gauri shook her head and showed her hand to him. Her ring finger in her left hand had gotten a cut and blood was coming out. Omkara held her wrist and took her to his room. He sat her down and went to bring a first aid kit.

Gauri watched as he kneeled down in front of her and cleaned her wound with an antisceptic and then wrapped a band aid around her finger. "thank you she said and omkara noticed that for the first time since they met, she appeared shy. They kept looking at each other and both of them had nothing to say to each other. He was kneeling in front of her and she sat on the bed.

"hume jana chahiye she said and rushed out of his room before he could react. He sat up on his bed and then saw as rudra made his entry. "arre waah o aap toh abhi se apna kaam kar rahe ho. Rudy came and sat beside om. Om shook his head and sighed at his younger brother and left the room without saying anything.

Annika reached saumya's room and knocked on the door. Saumya was surprised to see Annika on her door but couldn't hide the sliver of worry that showed on her face. Yes she was worried to talk to Annika alone because she was afraid she might say something she wasn't supposed to and their plan would fail. "Annika di? Andar aiyye na.

Annika had caught a split second expression change on saumya's face and she saw worry. They both go and sit on saumya's bed. After a few seconds of silence Annika asks the question she was dying to know the answer to. "tu khush toh hai na... iss shaadi se

As Annika waited for the answer, saumya was caught off guard at the sudden question. "haan di, main khush kyun nhi hongi? she lied. "last time tu chali gayi thi saumya toh fir ...

Saumya interrupted her, "ek saal bahot lamba time hota hai di, rudy childish hai par ye decision hum dono ka hai. aap please chinta mat karo, mai khush hun. And saumya hugged Annika.

After that they talked about how the past year went for both of them. Annika told saumya how she got the job and how she met gauri. Saumya told her how rudy askedher to marry him which was just another story she made. She didn't felt right lying to Annika but it was for the greater good, it was for Annika.

Annika left saumya's room and passed by shivaay's, suddenly her wrist was snagged by shivaay and she found herself in his room. Shivaay closed the door while she was in temporary shock. Annika just remembered their times in this room when she realises what was happening and she turns to protest and get out of this room. "shivaay ye aap kya.. before she could complete. He shuts her mouth with his palm "chup, bilkul chup. Khud kitna bolti ho aur mujhe kuch bolne hi nahi deti. Kabse baat karne ki koshish kar raha hu. He says all the while keeping his hand on her mouth. He hears her muffled protests and her weak vain attempts at getting free of his hold and he smiles

"mujhe tumhe kuch dena hai shivaay says while looking deeply into her eyes and Annika forgets her struggling and so shivaay slowly removes his hand off her mounth and puts in his pant pocket. Shivaay doesn't break eye contact with her as he pulls out something from his pocket. The jewellery dangles infront of Annika and she focuses on that. She is surprised to see her chandini and looks up at him with wide eyes full of unspoken emotions.

"jab tum mere saath nahi thi toh tumhari chandini ne mera bahot saath diya Annika par ab tum aa gayi ho toh... he says as he takes her wrist in his hand and makes her wear it, touching her everywhere that he could while doing that. He could see how affected Annika was by their intimacy. Shivaay pulls her close by her wrist "mujhe samajh nahi aa raha ki hum kyun lad rahe hain, tum kyun chali gayi? Sab kuch thik tha Annika.

Shivaay looked into her eyes as he waited for her answer but he noticed change in her as her expressions hardened and her body became stiff in his arms.

Annika easily freed herself of his hold "jab samajh aa jaye na tab baat kariyega, aur ek baat aur, main vapis nahi aayi hun. Main yahan bas apna kaam kar rahi hun saying this blank faced, Annika quickly opens the door and leaves before shivaay could react.
