Males being considered heirs, the one who can take the family name forward is commonly seen throughout I wouldn't call it orthodox thinking, because it isn't, it is something that still goes about today even between young couples I know for a fact since my father had mentioned about a younger employee having seven children because he and wife his tried tried until their seventh child was a boy and there hadn't only been one such story there had been 2 - 3. I remember another mention about a person who remarried for a boy. So I guess you get the point this crazy thought that only a male can take the family's name forwards still exist in the society from the oldies to the younger ones, maybe not all families but in a lot.

Some people go so crazy in this whole need for heir, son, grandson want that they follow anything, from remarriage to doing rituals. They don't seem to realize a lot of things.

First biologically it depends of the guy what the baby gender is since the girl has only the X and depends on guy donating an X or Y which again isn't up to the guy as well because there is no control over that, so blaming the couple for it is wrong (Just to clarify am not saying Dadi said Naira can't have a boy or thought of Karthik's remarriage or that kind of stuff I am just talking in a general way.)

Second doing rituals, God created us sure he knows what is better for the people who he created than we ourselves, so we are just challenging his authority and telling him we know we need a son you don't know anything, how exactly do you think God is going to be pleased by that and change his decision. (Again to clarify I do not believe in pandits bhavishvani and all that of course they are chances that it can be true just like they are equal chances of it being a lie but even if they were a 100 % true still. I said it in a common sense kind of way you do some ritual to change the gender of a coming child, you are in a way challenging God's decision and challenging a person is not really a good way to please them and do something for you).

I am waiting to see how the truth unfolds in front of Kaira. We have seen them in all other relations but would love to see them being a protective parent to their coming baby girl, who isn't even in Naira's womb, who may or may not even come. Just like Karthik stood up in Friday's episode want to see the same but this time Kaira together. Just like Karthik send out the message of PreMarital Sex not being a sin and not letting past effect present. I hope for this track Kaira sending out the message of a girl can also be a heir, that a heir shouldn't be chosen by gender or age but by seeing who is more capable.

Girl u are too ignorant.
If girls takw family name forward it is called matriarchal family and if boy does that it is patriarchal.
In northeastern india society is matriarchal and in most of other parts of india and world it is patriarchal. Any kind of family is fine.
These days no one really bothers about gender of baby. In the last 20 years things have drastically changed in our society.
Instead of bashing up the idiotic writers of yrkkh u are.hell bent on criticizing everything . Go tell those writers to not bring idiotic tracks that make no sense in present day society.

I would really like to be optimistic and say that these days the preference of a male child over female child is decreasing but I know that this is a very very very minuscule portion of Indian society which thinks that. From observing relatives and neighbours and colleagues (from diff part of the country), there is a change but it is very small.
I saw the following discrimination -

1. Prefers male child outright

2. Is okay with female child but 1st should be male and then you can keep having females (like they are some by product)

Most cases I have seen fall in 2nd category - these are educated people who live in cities, they have a good lifestyle (a lot of poor people use the excuse of dowry and that in their old age a son can look after them, not a daughter). But these people I know don't have such limitations - yet the bias exist.

I have met a working couple, living abroad, in which the girl thinks that the responsibility of the family is on the boy. So her husband is responsible for his family and her brother is responsible for hers. That's the kind of thinking which is prevalent.

Hope they show some good lesson out of this but I somewhat doubt - given the mentality of the majority tv/TRP viewers.

Yes I do agree it is decreasing, for which am grateful but still definitely a part of society and that must be changed, a successor / heir or whatever you may call it shouldn't be based on gender or age rather capabilities.

Well written
I don't think we should be that worried about not sending a good message cause of trip. Remember the week which was about Karthik's realization the week after he got to know Naira didn't lock him and all that week was 2.8 the week was a good message. This week the trp is 2.9 last week we had Karthik stand up. So trp audience do like a good message

Dadi is looking stupid - not because of her regressive thought that boys take lineage forward but because the way she is behaving.

CV's in their quest of showing a track for Karthik - Naira forgot that there are 3 more sons in Goenka house who can take the lineage forward.

If you want Manish Goenka 's name to go forward - the new found son, Shubham Goenka is there and the brother of Manish Goenka has twin sons.

So Dadi's worry of lineage name not going forward as Naira would deliver a girl child looks stupid as she has 3 more grandsons.

If only Dadi could have been shown saying who will take her darling Kittu's name forward, I could have understood but when the question of taking Goenka 's name forward takes place you cannot negate the existence of 3 more boys of Goenka's who are yet to get married.
