A Son Of His Mother
When Karthik had narrated the story of his past to Naira, he had mentioned about having a great bond with his father before Suvarna coming in and we do know that Karthik started showing anger to Manish after his mother had died or Manish's marriage to Suvarna. Karthik loved Manish but that loved changed to anger because in his eyes his mother had attempted suicide because of their SuvarNish affair. He wanted to give justice to his mother. He wanted to please his mother. The guilt on his face when he stepped into Goenka Business and had danced with Suvarna. I remember him apologizing to his mother at these two instances. This was the son he was to his birth mother, a child who even after she left him to go to heaven had always stood for her right and to please her.
A Son Of His Second Mother
It took many years for him to realize that Suvarna was a good hearted woman who loved him like her own and when he did understand that he took no time in stepping up from her. Along with Naira he introduced her to her son who she kept away. When others were against he stood up for her against his father. He didn't shy away from apologizing and accepting the mistakes he had made. These words are not much to read maybe but when you have shown an intense anger to a person for year an apology is not very easy, the guilt drowns you, but that moment when all the family except he and Naira were against Suvarna he knew that he needed to comfort his mother. So he did he apologized with his whole heart.
As A Grandson
No matter how many times Dadi may complain, of her Kittu being different or influenced by Naira or whatever. He has still always been a good grandson. The scene after Karthik is proved innocent in Akshara's case where he is sitting on the bench and he gets that audio message of Dadi being sick, he had been looking so lost and hurt that time, but as soon as he knew Dadi was sick he ran to GV, forgetting about his own pains.
As A Younger Brother
As soon as he got to know of the abuse along with Naira he attempted to bring Aditya's true face out and free his sister. When he got to know that even the second time his sister's husband wasn't in love with her and had lied to all, his anger was high we wasn't even ready to listen to the girl who was his life and that anger showed his love and care for his sister. When he came to tell this truth the wedding had already taken place, so he stayed silent because of the smile on his sister's face, he couldn't bring himself to tell her that it was a lie. He is a brother who wanted that his sister doesn't suffer a second time.
As An Elder Brother
There had been this scene of Karthik with Kuhu, where he notices that she is giving out too much information to Facebook friends she doesn't know. The way he gently yet sternly explains her was just as an elder caring brother would.
As A Friend
The bond that I have most cherished other then Kaira has been KarMi. Their first scene where Karthik butter/flirts with Mishti he made her understand that big things came in small packages, he made her realize that she was great the way she was, that he would love to have a girlfriend like her. He never forgot to give her thanks for being with him.
As A Lover
He always helped the family of the girl and the girl he loved whenever in whatever ways he could. When they were on drugs even when she was coming close to him despite of being intoxicated he pushed away he didn't take advantage. He had an accident, he knew he had banged into a rock but when the girl who he loved accused him he went to jail for the crime he had never done.
As A Fiance
Just a while before the wedding he got to know that his sister had caused the accident. He rushes to tell her even though he is scared that their relation might come to an end that his love may feel he has kept her in the dark, he still decides to tell the truth not wanting to base their marriage on a lie.
As A Husband
He had since the start planned to live away from the family after his marriage to Naira, but the reason he had left the house the moment he did had been because he got to know that Suvarna had taken some promise from Naira from keeping him at GV, he felt that Suvarna was using Naira, he didn't want to let that happen. When he came back to GV it was because Naira had been attacked, he wanted that there be someone with her in his absence that she isn't home alone, so even though he had never wanted to live in GV they go there.
He ran behind Kiran apologizing just so that Kiran would come to the dance competition and Naira's performance wouldn't get effected. Karthik had done nothing wrong he just felt irritated seeing another guy always sticking to his wife not even letting him and his wife have a cup of tea alone, it was a normal reaction, yet he was apologizing for it, I have seen, heard of one partner apologizing to another when jealousy came in, but not to the third person.
This track Karthik Goenka has hit the ball out of the Stadium. He never once came into the traps Raghav laid. True he was shocked for the few seconds when he had gotten the letter, but his trust, his love had not gotten a drop less for when his wife asks him the matter, he smiles at her and calls it a small issue. When his mother to getting to know the matter questions him he replies that he didn't want to ask his wife because if it were true he would remind her of the pain and if it were a lie it would hurt her as she would feel doubted. He couldn't give her pain nor hurt, so he decided to investigate the matter alone, because he knew that Raghav is upto something.
Tonight he fights for his wife against his family his beloved Dadi, he stands up for her respect. He questions as to why she was treated that way, whether the same treatment would have been given to him had he been in her shoe. He asks why wasn't he waited for. He questions the differentiation between a beta beti and bahu. He tries to make the others realize that if the word abortion hurts them so much think of the person who has actually faced it all, what they must be going through. He firmly announces that he wanted his wife to be respected, so the family can tell him if they are going to otherwise he would just start his search for a place for the two. His every word just hit the heart of mine, other fans and many people standing in that room. If that wasn't enough when Naira gets conscience and apologizes from keeping the matter hidden he says that maybe he had a fault that she wasn't able to tell him the truth. He assures her that he trust her, this isn't the I trust that you could have been touched by no one but me but I trust that you are right, I trust that you would never do something to hurt me, I trust that if you have hidden something from me there will be a reason, I trust if this abortion matter is true the fault isn't yours.
I don't say he is perfect and always scores a 100 in pleasing all the woman in his life, but he does try his very best, to stand up and fight for them, to put a smile on their face, to be the shoulder they can cry on. At times he might not do a very job at handling them together but he tries and if he fails he doesn't hold back from an apology with all his heart. He loves them but if they are wrong he won't support them or hide their mistakes. This is why Karthik Goenkas is both real and unreal. He is real because he wasn't born this person, surely he was a great human when he entered but each passing track he has grown to be better. He is unreal because just looking at a guy say things which come together to mean I don't care about my wife having had another man's child in her womb before he were in love and that she never told me about it is unreal. This is why he is the best son, grandson, brother, friend, lover/boyfriend, husband a girl would ever want in her life.
