Short Story: Unfiltered

One of the hardest things you'll ever have to do is grieve the loss of a person who is still alive, nothing could be more painful, more heart-wrenching, more numbing than to watch the very man who had blown her heart to slithers, parade around and about in front of her unaffected by her turmoil.

Neil Khanna was becoming the bane of her existence and he did not even have to try. All he had to do was look her way to begrudgingly awaken the dormant storm she had been suppressing until the very moment he walked in to the foyer of the jail. The place he had thrown her into banishing her from his heart and mind. And six months was a long time, enough for her to understand love had lost its luster the moment her husband had chosen to distrust her. He had without a single question broken her, reaffirming she was unworthy of his love. But so was he, he was unworthy of her trust, her heart, and the useless pain that churned her insides whenever he was in a feet of her.

So, he would be locked away in the storm of her hatred. Somehow even that seemed less. Less of a punishment for a man who promised to lay the stars beneath her feet, and yet he ended up stealing the very ground away from her. The comfort his trust now was a charade, and the love was nothing but twisted lies intended to satisfy his male pride.

Swiping at the strand of hair which escaped from behind her ear, she honed in her courage as she once again stared into the face of the man who left her alone without an explanation.

Hollow was all she felt.

"ACP Khanna, what brings you to our hell hole?''

ACP Neil Khanna straightened his lips, but sniggered eventually. He walked around her, as if he was tracing the presence of her while trying to harden his resolve to remain unaffected. Split into halves was his soul and there was nothing he could do about it. He chose this life, where a minuscule of a second had the potential to catastrophically change a life--- the result of it were why he was standing in front of his wife not beside her.

"Hell hole? I'd say your living a comfortable life here.'' He commented casually, striking a glance at the other prisoners who'd stop to notice their exchange. "I'm here for a routinely checkup! He said firmly. "Is there a problem?''

"A problem when ACP sir is here?'' She mocked clenching her fists not wanting to create an unnecessary scene. "I believe you've already locked away all the problems...as you see already.'' Glancing around, she kept her expressions from swaying to anger, "I know you would never let down your duty no matter what happens. After all a capable officer such as you knows how to respect his uniform.''

Though he appeared vigilant and quite, he was not made of stone. His heart was alive, it continuously breathed one name, Avni . The woman who abhorred the sight of him.

Nothing like a wound left open for too long, and his had been bleeding inaudibly since the day he had to punish the woman he loved for a crime she did not commit. But, if she was alone so was he. If she had to come face to face with his betrayal, he had to hide his misery afraid he would fall into the same rabbit hole he was saving her from. If she lurked within the shadows, he had chosen to embrace the shadows for her. At times the dark abysses abandoned him for even the shadows refused to look his way for they knew the secrets he hid into the silent chamber of his heart. They knew his ache, and felt it tenfold even before he could feel it himself.

"I try to give back as much as I can'', he jibed refusing to let his facade fall.

Striking back the urge to throttle him, Avni smiled. "Glad to know we have officers like you looking after the city.'' The taste of those words was bitter, but she swallowed her pride since she had bigger fishes to catch.

ACP Neil Khanna was at the bottom of her list. To provoke him would be to cause problems for herself, and she had just about enough of her jail stay without wanting to further prolong it.

Now with his entry the curtains were raised she felt, and Neil Khanna was about to be in for a stellar act.

Avni Ayesha may have fallen for him, but Ananya Verma was going to count down to his downfall.

-----------------

The bold part in italics is a quote I found suited. It is not mine thus please no credit for it.

In this story Neil is not going to be living in the Jail 24/7 as in the show nor does Avni know Neil is Neo 😆 Also Avni will likely escape in the next part...I have different route planned for all the players.

Share your thoughts if possible...thanks.

This is cool .
Avni can't be stopped by any force . His taunts and accusations only provoke her in jail break .
I'm waiting for the moment she catches Neil in action as Neo .
