No market.

People in India prefer to ride the Chennai express to see Tiger Zinda hai while deciding who the Student of the year is. ;)

Not sure about Bollywood but there was a movie called Bariwali (The Land Lady) in Bengali which mainly deals with loneliness (about a lonely lady in her middle age)... Kirron Kher's one of the best ...it's a beautiful movie...available with subtitles, I think.

Good topic, i must say.

The only movie that I can think of is Aligarh which I beleive fits into that category in terms of loneliness. It was based on a true story of Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras who was a Marathi teacher at Aligarh Muslim University but he lost his job because he was homosexual.

Manoj Bajpai played his role in this film. He was a very lonely person who had no friends. When he got fired for being homosexual, he lost his home and electricity was cut off. Nobody was there to support him although he had a lawyer who defended his case. He had the journaliast on who wanted to know his story. However, for most part, he suffering and there was lack of support and sympathy for this guy.

It's a very touching movie and it was part of the film festivals in many countries.

Loneliness is alien to me. I thrive in the forests. A born vagabond, a tramp, hermit...forever alone...

Have you watched Pestonjee? It's not about loneliness per se but rather about how a lonely man tries to find happiness through his friends life. It's a beautiful movie and Nasser is excellent in it

The loneliness/emptiness felt by the main character of Udaan just got me. But yes, the film is about much much more. Loneliness just a small part of it.
