Katrina doesn’t use Salman!

They did it not once, but twice.. Yes salman and Katrina can sizzle up the silver screen. They have two hits to prove it.. Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Partner.. The third will be Subhash Ghai's Subhash Ghai's Yuvraaj.

Last year) when Ghai announced his star cast for Yuvraaj , he mentioned that he had already signed Salman, Anil and Zayed for the film but was on a lookout for a 'new' girl for the film, keeping to his tradition of introducing new actresses.

After much hype and hoopla, it was revealed that none other than Katrina Kaif will play the lead in the film along with Salman Khan! Soon after rumour mills started doing the rounds of the news that Kats was in as Sallu had forced Ghai to accommodate her in the film and due to his reference or should we say 'preference', she was easily accepted!

Since there is no smoke without fire in tinsel town we brought up the issue with Ghai, and surprisingly the 'Showman' was not taken aback by our question!

"I have been hearing innumerable stories revolving around my film, especially the casting. I didn't sign Katrina because she is Salman's friend! Katrina doesn't use Salman for professional gains. Katrina herself called me when she got to know that I was in the process of casting for my film. She came to meet me and said, 'I want to work with you but only if you think I am capable of playing this role'. Her gesture was very touching. Salman never interfered in this matter!"

Ghai further added, "There is a long story behind Salman doing the film too. I still remember after the failure of Kisna, almost every actor in the industry turned his back on me except for Salman! He met me after seeing the film and said he would love to work with me in future. He stood by me when even when my friends had lost faith in me! He is the only actor who doesn't judge a director's ability by the success/ failure of his last film. I signed him for Yuvraj but all was not well. Because of the post production work of Black and White, I had to postpone Yuvraj' s shoot and thus informed him accordingly so that he can give his dates to someone else. (We were to begin shooting on May 18, 2007 but it got delayed to Sep, 07!) He replied saying, 'I'll wait for you and I have blocked my dates only for you. You can begin shooting whenever you want to."

So here's to Katrina who can get her own films without her boyfie's help.. That's the spirit !!!
