While Padmavati may be in the news for quite some time, it is good at leas the film industry is taking a stand, the controversy surrounding it.
What the public has failed to realise is that, the film is an adaptation of the poem Padmavat, written by Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi, in 1540. The poem ends with Jayasi's own words, I have made up the story and related it'. In fact, a TOI report has stated, "Sufi poet Jayasi made up the story that later got legend status, so Sanjay Leela Bhansali can't be threatened for taking creative licence with the tale, say historians".
The movie has so much scope in terms of its production, art direction and even the casting, that it is overlooked for something as simple as being historically inaccurate'. Ever since its inception, the movie was predicted to be a success at the box office, if not a artistically successful movie. But it is sad to see such trivial issues, potentially ruin what would be a masterpiece of the film industry.
I, for one, is very excited to see the movie once it gets released. Having checked out the production news on IMDB and Cinestaan, I cant wait until it gets released.
The film made on a large scale and huge budget promises to be a visual spectacle. It was planned to have a wide 3D release with Paramount distributing it.
