I did not like it at all, reason being its OTT and Aamir is again glorifying himself..
Also , he totally ruined the coach's image. I heard the real coach was so shocked to be portrayed as a villain. Just to glorify his character, he butchered another person's image..

I liked the younger girl's acting. thats it..

It would have been a great movie for others, for me, it was very annoying to see Aamir khan shoved down our throats.. I wish someone like Irfan khan would have done this role..

don't look at this film on the basis of how much it made at BO..or who glorifies whom...watch it just as a film...and its certainly likeable..but then again...to each his own...
Deepika has 20 million followers...even KRK had 5 million followers on Twitter..i never understood why n how...so everyone has an opinion..and every fact can't be understood LOL

It was a good movie... but not as amazing as everyone is making it out to be. I honestly got bored in the second half. I think it's just become a habit now to call any movie Aamir stars in a masterpiece. The best Aamir movie till date is 3 idiots... the rest are just good one time watch.

I had major issues with making the coach as a fool who don't really care if his students learning anything or getting a gold medal. Of course it's a movie where it's based on girls but dad has bigger share, no shocker there 😆 acting is good, amir as usual knocked it out of park with proper body language and acting, girls were amazing too. Ok movie

One of the best movies that I have seen. But still rate 3 Idiots, Lagaan and RDB above it when it comes to Aamir movies

Aamir has been glorifying his roles since 3 Idiots. I roll my eyes when people say that he's different from other superstars, and gives space to other actors. Yes, he was doing that till TZP, but after that all his movies are all about him, except niche and art films like Talaash and Dhobi Ghat. Aamir too thinks about box office first, and then about quality cinema.
Dangal was a good movie, but it also has so-many flaws. Like there was no need of voice-over in the movie , it was only done to add humour. The movie should have focussed more on Gita and Babita. Like why they suddenly became interested in wrestling?? Just because their father is not getting them married to a random guy? Why Also Mahavir forcing his dreams on his daughters is shown as something right. Why?? Just because it was played by Aamir Khan?? The second half should've focussed on Geeta and her dream to win the gold medal for her father, but they just added that coach vs father subplot to make the movie more dramatic.
Neither the movie makes you emotional like 3 Idiots or TZP, nor it gives you a patriotic feeling like RDB or CDI.

I enjoyed it. The movie was able to hold my attention from start to finish. Some parts were over-dramatized like the coach locking up Aamir in store room or the Australian opponent portrayed as antagonist. But being a bollywood film, it was expected.

I don't think Aamir glorified himself in this movie. He was somewhat a grey character. He literally forced the girls to adapt wrestling just for the sake of his dreams. Although, his actions can be justified too.

And the movie did have a disclaimer that some things are absolutely fictional only to create extra drama, entertainment and thrill. That's how Indian movies are usually. The coach wasn't exactly portrayed as a villian. Just an atrocious deed. He had his own reasons. He liked Geet and wanted her to win as well. But in the end, his and the father's opinions clashed.

Also, in one of the interviews the real Geeta Phogat admitted that his father had been indeed locked in a room during her final match, although they don't know who exactly did that.

Anyways, I absolutely love the movie. Watched it twice in the theatre. It has so much to learn from. First half is entertaining. Second half is a bit slow in the beginning but gains tempo eventually. And I think nobody could have done it better than Aamir. Be it physical transformation or acting.

Yes...yes. Found it inspiring as well as entertaining. Amir was glorified? Hell no, the 4 girls took the centre stage. The story sends out a strong message of nationalism and feminism. It wasn't just wrestling, the sport. Mahavir had to wrestle the system, societal norms, prejudices and so on.

What worked was the writing, topnotch and fresh. The script had everything from tongue in cheek humour, father-daughter conflict, emotional turmoil, patriotic vibes well in place. The wrestling tournaments were so well choreographed that they looked close to real.

Which superstar will play a grey haired, overweight, old age father role? His best till date. The girls were phenomenal too.

The coach was made negative to bring in the 'villain angle' to the story, not to glorify amir. Yes, the climax twist was cliched.

Amir shoved down our throat? lol the guy does one film in 2 years 😆
