I am back.
Thank you very much for the love you showed to my previous SS Aankhon ki Gustakhiyaan. Many people requested me to continue with it, so I have decided to call it Season I Goa Chapter and started another one the Mumbai chapter first part below. I am not sure how many parts this will be, as it is not a day to day account as was the Goa chapter. The length and number of parts will depend on appreciation received and inspiration I get .
Aankhon ki Gustakhiyan Season II Mumbai Chapter
Part 1
They had arrived in Mumbai three days before Daadi's 75th birthday. They were very excited to celebrate Daadi's diamond jubilee with all the pomp and show the Oberois could afford, after all Daadi deserved it, for all the love and care she had given them all these years. In years she had shown them more than 75 shades a persona can have, all they were, they had learned from her. She was responsible with Shivaay, creative with Omkara and with Rudy she became the mischief-maker against the older Obros. With Gauri, Daadi threw tantrums like the kid of the house and was pampered accordingly, fed her medicines and food; and Gauri would even prepare for all her temple rituals, anything she wanted, they were very similar in their spiritual temperament. And for Anika, Daadi was a friend, from the very first day, Priyanka had introduced them, they had shared their deepest thoughts and fears with each other, mostly concerning their common topic SSO.
They were all eager to show their love to Daadi, earn her blessings and get the title of Daadi's favourite as a trophy. So there was a competition amongst them as to who would prepare the best surprise for Daadi's bday. In doing so, they were being very secretive with each other. The Obros had formed a team, since they didn't hide anything from each other anyways, and so the Obahus decided to form a group as well in order to make the fight fair. They had even enlisted Bhavya, who had returned to Mumbai a day after them from Goa. Bhavya was all too obliging, she loved coming to Oberoi Mansion, the only home she knew and in Daadi, she saw the protector she never had. Being an ACP, all tough on the outside for the world, she had forgotten her softer side, and having Daadi take her side and fight for her every time Rudra misbehaved, she felt she had someone.
This obviously had some impact on Rikara us' time. Omkara was desperate to see his chiraiyya, he had only had glimpses of her in the past two days, since they split into groups to prepare Daadi's surprise, and every time he tried to corner her to steal a kiss, she behaved all secretive. At night, she would come late in the room and since they were both tired, they just fell asleep at the drop of the hat.
Gauri was suffering too. She was missing all the pampering and surprises she had received from her Jatadhari, when in Goa, but was also happy to return back to OM, back to the family, to Daadi and to Jhaanvi Ma as she called her. She was spending most of her time with Anika and Bhavya these days, preparing for Daadi's surprise. In addition, the Obahus were in-charge of the party as well, Anika for the catering, and Gauri for the decorations.
She stole glances at her Nandi, every now and then they crossed each other in the corridor, the last time, she had managed to run into his arms somehow by mistake. Gauri' his seductive voice called out to her, as he caressed her hair and kissed her on the forehead. She had then made a run from there, all red and blushing. Not too much longer' she thought, patience Gauri'.
And she was right, the D-Day had arrived, since morning, she was very busy looking after all the decorations. Omkara was trying to get her attention when they were in the room, but she kept stitching this special dupatta she was preparing for Daadi's God statues as a personal gift. Gauri' he pleaded, trying to get her to look at him. Boliye na Om. I am listening' she said, without lifting her head, still engrossed in her handiwork, Nothing' he said, and walked out, stomping his foot. Shit' she had managed to irk him, the person who had all the patience in this world. She chided herself and made a resolve to make up for it after the party.
In the morning, Daadi and visited the temple with Gauri and distributed sweets and clothes to many poor people. She had also made donations to several charities. In the evening, it was a classy affair. The party was a rage. Every person who had any status in Mumbai had arrived. Everyone was dressed in their best outfits, showing off, bringing gifts for Daadi, all of which she passed on to the Oberoi Charitable Trust'.
I don't need any gifts' she said, I have everything I need right here', looking very proudly at her family.
But Daadi, we want to give you a surprise,' interrupted the Obros and Obahus together.
Everybody was looking at them stunned. Shall we, Daadi?' asked Shivaay.
Yes, I am excited' said Daadi.
With this Shivaay requested all to be seated, the stage was brought in, the servants and helpers arranged musical instruments hurriedly on it and the Obros walked up center-stage in their signature style, Shivaay in the middle holding hands of his two bros either side. They took their positions and started.
Shivaay on the guitar, Omkara on the piano and Rudy on the drums, they started singing in unison Jeevan ke pal...' a song their Daadi had hummed to them ever since they remember and eventually they hummed as a family on special occasions. Everyone was mesmerised. Daadi had tears in her eyes, and so did all the elder Oberois, including Pinky. The Obahus just couldn't take their eyes off their respective beaus, completely lost in them, feeling a sense of pride. As soon as the song finished, Daadi went up the stage and hugged them all, Gauri jumped up, clapping with her hands and cheering her Om. Anika was cheering too, but she had to pull Gauri to restrain her lest the Obros won?
Next was their turn, the Obahus, they quickly sneaked away to get ready whilst the servants and helpers got busy in rearranging the stage. Obros were on tenterhooks, whilst talking to their business colleagues, friends etc. who had come to the party, they were distracted, what were the Obahus going to do?' they were eager to find out.
They didn't have to wait long. The stage had turned into a 40s style urban area with three bicycles on it with a screen behind. The lights were dimmed, the screen went live showing a backdrop, the Obahus, dressed in 4os style saree and plaited hair, started cycling on stationary bikes, singing Banke panchhi gaye pyaar ka tarana...Daadi's favourite song, in her favourite costumes, reminding her of the favourite times, when she was young...
It was time for Obros to be mesmerised, they couldn't help smiling, at times laughing, doing wah wah at their wives's antics, ShivKara were enjoying this too much, they loved it too much, they couldn't stop clapping at sending admiring glances to their wives after it was over. Daadi once again jumped on the stage, threw a few thumkas with her chirayyas and laughed again with tears of joy in her eyes. It was a lovely affair; the crowd had given a standing ovation to both the acts and since dinner was long done, everyone started dispersing. The family got busy in sending the guests off.
Omkara saw this as a perfect opportunity to steal his Gauri away, enough' he thought, I need her now'. So in long strides he marched up to her, took her by surprise, she was instructing the servants to clear the stage. She turned, without a word, he picked her up and they were off. Where are you taking me' she complained. ssshhh' he replied. He stopped only at his studio, made her stand and cornered her against the wall. Aap' before she could say anything, her lips were sealed with his. The kiss turned into a heated make-out session, where Omkara took complete charge, he was in no mood to spare her, he was holding her back, caressing her with both his hands, whilst doing things to her lips she could hardly fathom. She was lost, Was that a plan to kill me, test my patience, with that look and those expressions, what did you expect? You trouble me too much' he said, and started un-braiding her plait, whilst still kissing her, not giving her any chance to explain herself.
And what was she going to explain? Apologise for looking so beautiful that Omkara couldn't control himself and just wanted to ravish her. He played with her 40s style blouse, her saree, her open hair now that had folds in them. Gauri' he moaned, hmmm' she replied...they were in the middle of this heated moment, their lips locked, when Rudy started knocking on the door, O, Chulbul Bhabhi, open the door, I left my jacket inside'.
Damn Rudy ' Omkara moved to open the door , as if to kill Rudy, leaving Gauri all hot and flustered, she gathered her nerves and ran to the washroom to recover.

So what say people? Leave comments and check out Season I - Goa Chapter as well if you haven't already.
Hello again, my lovelies,
A big hug for the beautiful comments and encouragement.
I'm loving it. In the last part, I wanted to show that there is some interaction between Rikara when Gauri was in the 40s get-up, as I was loving Omkara's expressions when he saw her on-screen, so I thought what if he saw her in-person like that? I hope you liked that?
So here goes the next part:
Aankhon ki Gustakhiyan Season II Mumbai Chapter
Part 2
Gauri was confused and scared. She has no experience of the worldly ways, the only boys she knew so far in her life were the little chirotas she played with and taught dance and music to, in Bareilly. Besides that, her life had been pretty basic, living with her mom, getting abused by her chacha-chachi almost every day and running between the shop and home trying to make ends meet. This was her life since her adopted father passed away, she was only 1 then. She had to take responsibility of his shop (a small street=side stall, more like thela) where he sold mataji's clothes made by her mother and her. Her mother was unwell mostly; she was of a sick constitution. She could not bear the heat and dust of the street and was unable to sit at the shop. So Gauri left school and did just what she thought was right. At night, she used to help her mom prepare the chunris and clothes and in the morning she would sell them at the stall next to the temple. Before Kaali Thakur, the only other acquaintance she had with evil was her chacha-chachi. The people who came to buy chunris from her were mostly Mataji's devotees and she didn't see them as threats. She has never read mature science books, any novels, never had any boyfriends and never on any occasion had the chance to speak to her mom about what happens after marriage.
Kaali's eyes were on her ever since she turned 18; he used to visit the temple every Friday, that's when he had spotted her. She didn't know what kept him from making a move towards her for another three years, but as soon as she turned 21, Kaali asked for her hand from her chacha-chachi and they readily obliged. That was the ill-fated occurrence but a fortunate day when she met her Omakraji, only for him to misunderstand her. She had borne Kaali's lust and Omkara's hatred all this while.
What love' is had never made an entrance in her very tiny dictionary. And now, after all this while of hating her and showing her only wrath, Om had suddenly started pampering her like crazy. What happened in Goa, she took it as a one-off? As, something that happened when one goes to Goa. Or as something that Omkara did to console her after the entire Ajay fiasco. She could find several excuses to justify Goa, but could not believe that this is how life was going to be for her from now on. She had seen too many troubles in life so far, to readily accept these pleasures.
To add to her confusion, was the fact that she had no idea about what happens between a husband and wife after marriage. She had seen some Bollywood Salman Khan films, where couples dance around trees, go behind trees holding hands. That's all she knew. And that's why she so easily could convince herself that when he was under the spell of buama's jadibooti, what he did to her, their close proximity could result in a baby and managed to convince Omkara she didn't have to say anything in fact.
And what Omkara did to her on Daadi's bday night, she was gob-smacked. She was so affected that she had not come out of the washroom for ages. Omkara kept waiting for her, but she made excuses of taking a shower, feeling hot after the performance blah blah. The truth was that she was feeling things she had never thought of, imagined even in her wildest dreams. That lip to lip kiss left her hot and bothered. Although it felt as the most natural thing to do, and she liked it, but she couldn't explain what she felt during and after it.
Since then, she had been avoiding Omkara. What if he discovers how ignorant she is in the ways of love? Somewhere in her head, the thought that she was ignorant and illiterate was rooted so deep down that she felt inferior. And when she felt inferior with herself, how could she feel equal to her Om and reciprocate?'
Omkara was confused and more confused. What was wrong with Gauri these days? Was she avoiding him? Did she not like him kissing her? He was desperate to find out. Ever since that night, she had woken up really early and slept before he got back from the studio. He was also busy preparing for his next exhibition, and didn't have time to chase her around the house. She was polite and did all the stuff she did for him before, but just avoided being with him alone anywhere. She was perfectly normal on the dining table and living room in the presence of others.
I have to find out, what is bothering her' thought Om and resolved to speak with her soon. But that day was his exhibition launch. Gauri' he called as he walked into the room,' get ready, we have to go.'
Where?' she asked
To my exhibition launch'
Nahin... Aap jaiye. Hum waha kya karenge?' she pleaded
Gauri, you don't want to come with me on this important occasion? I want to share my happiness with you'.
Haan, toh, ghar par hum saath hain na' she turned and started walking away from him.
He leapt to grab her hand, Don't walk away from me Gauri, when I am talking to you'. He pulled her to himself, this time encircling her waist and inter-locking his hands behind her. Ab batao, what is going on in your head? Are you avoiding me? Did you not like that beautiful moment we shared the other day?'
Na...Nahin. Om. Par hum exhibition mein ja kar kya karenge?'
That's when he understood.' Tum darr rahin ho, what happened last time will happen again? Don't worry Gauri, they will not dare to insult you, you are Mrs. Omkara Singh Oberoi'.
Main nahin chahti ki log meri respect sirf isliye karen kyunki main Mrs. Oberoi hoon.'
Par Gauri, you shouldn't be affected by what those idiots think and say. You are much better than them. For me, you are like a precious stone, so pure, so shiny, so lovable' pleaded Omkara.
Nahin Om, aap jaiye' she had made her decision.
Gauri, do you want to continue your studies? It doesn't bother me at all that you are 5th pass and cannot speak fluent English. I love you as you are, my Gauri. But if it will make you feel better, it can be arranged. I will organise a day tutor for you who will come and give you lessons at home, you can learn English and other subjects and then appear for exams and get your board certificate. Would you like that?' asked Omkara with concern in his eyes.
Gauri looked up at his eyes to check if he was serious and seeing the concern and love, she hugged him tightly.
Haan, Om, kya aa aisa karenge mere liye?'
Of course Gauri, and I am doing this for myself, not you. What I don't want is that you refuse to go to events with me in the future because of this reason. I want you to be a part of everything that is me. And I want to be part of everything that is you'. He spoke hugging her and placed a kiss on her head.
Gauri was happy, she broke the hug with a smile and quickly sent him packing, Thank you. Ab Jaaiye, apka exhibition launch hain'.
Mann toh nahin kar raha tunhare bina, but I promised the gallery I will be there. Main you gaya and you aaya'.
He felt lighter somehow. He had started to understand her. Her fears, her thoughts, her perspective, he had started putting himself in her shoes to see her world-view. And he realised, his chiraiyaa was the bravest person he knew. Coz the world looked very scary from where he was standing (in her shoes).
She had the strength; all he had to do was to give her the skills that will give her the confidence to see the world differently. Love will have to take a bit of a back-seat, of course he will continue to show her his affection, with the teasing and pranks, but he had to get her to a place where she will be standing on the same page as him, when it came to intimacy. With this new resolve and a smile on his face he walked out of their room.
END
So guys, looking forward to the comments.
So people, I am back with a weekend treat, two updates.
Actually it became too long and I couldn't figure out where to break it.
Also, in true IB tradition, I have a new entry in the SS. I am sure you all will love her, I am imagining someone like Farida Jalal for her character. So, enjoy!
Aankhon ki Gustakhiyan Season II Mumbai Chapter
Part 3 and Part 4
Gauri was content. Life had fallen into a rhythm she very much liked. Three months had passed since her last conversation with Omkara about continuing with her studies. After that, he had disappeared for two days informing her that he had some work out of town. She missed him terribly, although they spoke on the phone 6-7 times in the day. When he returned, he was accompanied with a middle-aged lady who had a serene face only saints are capable of.
Gauri, meet Divya Ma, your tutor', said Omkara. The lady smiled at her, Gauri was already spell-bound, she touched her feet and Divya Ma hugged her. Your place is in my heart, just like my Omkara', she said.
Gauri was confused, Aap Omkaraji ko pehle se jaante hain?' To this, both Omkara and Divya Ma broke into laughter and Omkara hugged her just like he hugs Jhanvi Ma.
Yes, she home-schooled me as well, and Shivaay and Rudra. She is the best guru in the world' said Omkara.
Gauri who was known for her pitter-patter had no words, she was in shock, first she couldn't believe Omkara would get HIS OWN guru to tutor her, then the fact that all three Obros were home-schooled by her, so she could also turn out like them, a class apart. Whilst Gauri was in her reverie still...Omkara broke the silence.
Divya Ma you take some rest and we can start tomorrow with Gauri's lessons'. Omkara then took her to the Guru Quarters in a secluded part of OM she had occupied long time ago, Omkara had instructed his staff to fix it with all modern amenities and refurbish with new furniture and flowers, whilst he was away to fetch Divya Ma.
The next day they had started the lessons and as fate would have it, both of them struck it off like match and fire. They were unstoppable. In Gauri, Divya Ma had found a spark of life, a lust for learning, energy that was unhindered, and love, that had no depth, there was no bottom to this ocean. She was very happy that her Omkara had found Gauri, no one else, could have brought him out of his shell, like Gauri could, when the time comes.
Shivaay and Rudra had barged into their first class itself, hugging Divya Ma and laughing and smiling like there was no tomorrow. I cannot thank Omkara enough for finding you, and bringing you here to school Gauri. Thank you Gauri, bcoz of you we have her back' said Shivaay whilst holding Divya ma by her shoulders and Rudra was playing with her saree like a little kid. It felt like tears of joy were brimming in Rudra's eyes and a strong sense of pride and adulation in Shivaay's eyes. Why did you leave' complained Rudra, do you have any idea how much we looked for you?'
My work here was over, there were others who needed me Ru, so I had to go, had I told you guys where I was going, you would have followed me and never let me leave, so I had to do it that way' explained Divya Ma.
I had detectives looking for you everywhere. How did Omkara find you?' quizzed Shivaay
He knew where I was. I had retired to the ashram and didn't want to come, but Omkara insisted that he will have no one but the best guru for his Gauri, so I had to break my resolve for him.' explained Divya Ma with a guilty look.
See, Shivaay bhaiya, I always knew O was her favourite. But she never admitted' Rudra complained again, after all he had all the right.
Shivaay, you know the truth, don't you?' Divya Ma looked at Shivaay expectantly.
Of course Ma, you don't need to explain anything. Ru is always jealous of no matter of what, such a baby he is' said Shivaay, Ok, we will not disturb the lesson anymore, carry on, see you late Ma.' With that Shivaay left, taking Rudra with him who didn't look like he was planning to leave at all.
After this, all other members of the family had visited them that day, to say hello, pay their respects and greet Divya Ma. It seemd like everyone in OM loved someone unanimously after Daadi, and that was Divya Ma. Even Pinky aunty surprised Gauri by hugging Divya Ma like a long lost friend.
Gauri had so many questions brimming in her mind. She wanted to know so much about Omkara's childhood, his life, but gradually she will quiz Divya Ma she thought. For now, she wanted to get on with the lessons.
And so, the rhythm of life had taken over.
Shivaay, Daadi and Gauri were the early risers in the house; they were up when the first rays of sun hit the earth. Shivaay to prepare breakfast for the family, which he did since he was 16-17 every day, when he was in OM. Daadi woke up to do morning veneration of the sun and puja thereafter and Gauri out of habit, but now also to join Daadi in the morning rituals. She would shower, venerate the sun, water the tulsi and then join Daadi for puja, they then did aarti and distributed Prasad to the whole family. She would then go to her lessons with Divya Ma.
Although OM had 100s of servants milling around, food preparation was sacred to the family, and so each meal was personally prepared or atleast supervised by one family member.
Jhanvi Ma and Pinky Aunty were responsible for lunch, Gauri for Tea time and Anika and Daadi were jointly responsible for dinner. Gauri and Anika were both amateur cooks, and had added responsibility, Anika was running the Aniri Orphanage chain supported by Gauri when she could; and Gauri was studying. So, Gauri was given the tea time responsibility, which involved just snacks and mostly only the ladies of the house, sometimes joined by Ru baby who liked being pampered by all ladies. Anika was learning to cook from the expert herself, and her best friend Daadi, so they would prepare dinner together where Anika was developing a nuanced approach to food-making. She also got to get a deeper insight in Oberois life and her favourite topic SSO, spending time with Daadi.
And Daadi couldn't be happier, she made sure she spent her mornings with Gauri and her evenings with Anika, her two favourites in the house, towards whom she had a bias, all were aware of by now. And the Obros came a very close second, she couldn't choose between them, so they were grouped together as usual.
This morning, Gauri woke up as usual and after her morning rituals, had just started the puja with Daadi, when Daadi insisted that Gauri sing a bhajan for her. Gauri tried to refuse saying that she didn't want to wake up the household but Daadi wouldn't listen, she told Gauri that she was feeling anxious and wanted to hear a bhajan. To this, Gauri had to give in, and started singing. Shakti was in his room meditating, when he heard the most beautiful, mesmerising voice shatter his concentration. He got up to find the source of the voice and ended up in the puja house to find Gauri singing and Daadi, swaying with her eyes closed, mesmerised. Shakti, involuntarily, joined them and sat down and started swaying. Tej was jogging in the back garden when he heard the most soothing voice coming from the house. His feet just started moving towards the source without having any instructions from the brain.
Omkara woke up with a smile on his face, to the sound of a soulful song which sounded familiar and checked on the side for Gauri but she wasn't there. Omkara got up and made his way towards the sound.
By now, the bhajan had ended, all bowed to the deities, and Gauri took Daadis blessings and offered her Prasad. She then took Shakti's blessings and offered him Prasad Shakti Uncle' she said.
Thank you beta, but what wrong have I done? Are you punishing me for being Pinky aunty's husband? pleaded Shakti taking the Prasad.
Nahin, humne kuch galat kiya? Quizzed Gauri, confused.
What do you call her? He pointed towards Daadi
Daadi' said Gauri, even more confused, this was the most obvious Q&A in the world
This is partiality beta, if she is Daadi, how am I Shakti uncle?' said Shakti, I would really like it if you call me Chote Papa. Can you do that?'
Chote Papa' Gauri said and hugged him, tears brimming in her eyes.
Thank you beta, for being my daughter' Shakti hugged her back.
Four pair of eyes were watching this play out from afar, full of pride but also jealousy.
Jealousy, in case of Tej. He had come to love his Gauri beta ever since Chulbul days, but he couldn't admit it even to himself. The way Chulbul had proven to be Omkara's friend and protector, was endearing. After that, Gauri had saved Om from Buama and Svetlana which Tej himself couldn't do for his son. He will never admit it even to himself, but Omkara was his weakness, and when he was in coma, Tej was dying every day watching his son like that. But Gauri was strong, she had some strange belief that Omkara will come back to them, she never left his side and she was successful in waking him up. Tej felt indebted to Gauri for life, and he was dying to hear Papa' from both Gauri and Omkara. He knew he didn't deserve them, but a man can hope, cant he?
He had a new resolve in his eyes, It will happen' he thought Gauri will bring me and Omkara close, I am sure. And I will do anything and everything for that to happen'. With that he walked in the direction of puja house, Where is my Prasad Gauri?' Gauri smiled and offered him Prasad, taking his blessings. Daadi and Shakti were awe-struck, she couldn't believe it, Tej, of all people, was in the puja house, asking for Prasad!'
Tej? Tu? Quizzed Daadi
Nahin maa. This is someone else, a changed man, I couldn't help it, Gauri's voice dragged me here, I don't know what happened? Explained Tej guiltily, after all he had to think of some justification even for himself.
And they were not the only ones, Omkara standing far away, couldn't believe that Tej was in the Puja house. He was already full of pride with what happened with Shakti, and now this?
How much more happiness can Gauri give him?' thought Omkara,' what had he done to deserve this precious gem? Well, whatever it was, he certainly deserved a reward for deserving her' and with a smirk developing on his face, Omkara walked to the puja house.
END
So guys, what will Omkara do now, to reward himself?
Why were the Obros home-schooled?
And what is it about his childhood that Shivaay and Divya Ma were discussing? Will Gauri find out?
Keep reading to find out, and leave comments.
