Vineet Raina (TOI photo)
He calls himself a simple guy.

And he doesn't mind talking about his early struggling days in Mumbai. But today, he has put all this behind. For television actor Vineet Raina, who plays Veer in Maayka, life's all about being positive. He comes from a family of defence personnel. If it wouldn't have been acting then he would have joined the armed forces.

So ask him how did acting happen? Raina, who hails from Kashmir, says, "When I came to Mumbai initially, I had to struggle a lot. For six to eight months I had absolutely no work, but then audition for Mulk happened and I got selected. I am happy that my struggling days are over." Was it difficult to find a way without a Godfather? "Now it's not at all difficult. If you have talent, you will be absorbed automatically. Every-thing gets decided in the audition round," he says.

With reality shows becoming a part of almost each and every channel, doesn't he want to be a part of these shows? "I was offered many reality shows, but then I don't like such shows," he says. And what about his future plans? "Right now, I am very happy with my two shows on air, and I always want to be in good production houses so that I can excel and show my talent."

Talking about his foray into films, he says, "I did act in two movies, but now am waiting for the right script. I don't want to take any hasty decision," he says.

Ask him about the hectic lifestyle of television actors and he says, "At times it gets very hectic, and I don't have my family staying here. But then if I can't go to meet them, my family comes down to Mumbai to meet me."

Competition might be a part of today's glamour world but he takes it all in good spirit. "I'm basically a very simple guy, I do my duty and leave it God. I believe in staying positive," says Raina.

And as a parting question, one is tempted to ask him about his personal life. Is he single? "Yes, right now, but I'm a straight forward person. If I like a girl, marraige has to be the logical conclusion," he signs off.
