I've been contemplating the same. The last show I watched that had a track similar to this was MJHT. Similar situation of a bet between male lead and his friends. However, the situation was better handled there due to the fact that the era was much more modern. No nosy relatives and all. 😆 Also, the interactions between Gunjan and Samrat were much better given their maturity level. If I recall correctly, he helped her build confidence and that track took a month or two and she helped him during the exams which was also a long track. My main point is that they had a lot of conversations and interactions and they went on to be friends for more than 6 months before any confession of love. I hope it's handled the same way here too because I personally don't believe Naina is in love. It's just a crush/infatuation so far. She has yet to see who Sameer really is. As for Sameer, he really needs to start learning from his mistakes or at least shown to contemplate on his actions. He comes across to me as egoistic and immature which is largely due to neglect from his parents. Both have a lot of growing up to do and they need more personal time together which is really hard when they're constantly surrounded by nosy grown ups. 😆 This show is really lovely and has great potential but like you said we need more conversations between Naina and Sameer instead of background music all the time. Even when Naina tutored Sameer, instead of any lengthy and meaningful conversation we were given background music with constant eyelocks. Hopefully the play will give them the excuse to have some alone-time together without Naina having to lie just to meet up.
Oh man. MJHT and Samrat-Gunjan fan here too. And ever since this track has started I have been continuously thinking about them. Because SaJan are so so similar to Naina/Sameer characterisation wise. One cant help but recall it. Yikes. Now that I think about it even Samrat had so much family issues. Even I hope the track is dealt in a similar way. Specially because like Samrat I expect Sameer to have a huge change of heart for Naina. Its sort of how the plot demands. Confession is a long way to go. But they should know each other before that. I do get the nosy relatives and 90s timeline dont create a situation for them to interact much. But its creative liberty. If the writers want they can easily make Naina/Sameer interact. The study together and Romeo track had good chances of them being alone. Tag them together in some projects or something. The show has a great potential and since Sony shows deal with relationships so well these days. Its expected they would do a good job with this one.
