There are various measurement techniques.
One is provided by aMAP. They give their daily measurements. You can check out their site
www.audiencemap.com

This site measures 100+ lac towns all over India. Their strategy for measurements are also available on their website.

TAM ratings are provided by another group. You can read about them at their website.

Balaji keeps track of TAM ratings. The data collected is posted to subscribers and is made available at the end of the week. You can check out the Balaji site www.balajitelefilms.com at their sitemap to get the TAM ratings.
Some channels subscribe to aMAP and some to TAM.

The actual focus of the ratings is to help advertisers know where to market their products. It was not meant as a means of measurement of how a serial is actually doing. Some production houses question how the measurements are taken whilst others agree to it.

This would explain the difference between aMAP positioning and TAM positioning for Bidaii.

My suggestion is we study the trend. Definately Ragi speaking against dowry etc has brought the ratings up for Bidaii. Since then, Bidaii has been doing well. Let's hope with more realistic storylines that deal with important issues facing our society helps keep the serial as an important tool of knowledge and education to the viewers.
