Right or Wrong- Black or White
Three weeks back I was very excited to find out that my favourite serial is going to be aired again for 6 weeks from 25th September 2017. This is the first and probably the last time that I will invest myself in a serial!!
I loved Dev and Sona's love story the first 100 odd episodes were wonderful and I have lost count of the number of times I have seen them on You Tube. However, in this Season 2 I am beginning to feel cheated. The makers had a wonderful opportunity to tie up all loose ends and end the story logically. But they have opened more doors and more questions it is kind of becoming Dev Vs Sona and not Devakshi Vs the others.
I always believed that the main reason for their marriage failing spectacularly in season 1 was not Ishwari or Bijoy but they themselves. I think they married on a rebound they never spent time in analyzing what went wrong. As a result they married but Sona couldn't get herself to trust Dev and kept trying to prove herself to be the best Bahu. On the other hand, Dev was unable to trust that Sona is also part of his family and she could make a rational decision. So he didn't want to involve her in any decision in the Dixit household; they both allowed to ruin their marriage.
Then the fiasco with the (non) pregnancy and the pre nup drama happended they both hurt each other beyond measure and split. Then the leap happened and Soha happened and of course they got back together. We all know that only a person very close to out hear can hurt us the most. Dev and Sona are two very different individuals who make a wonderful whole. However, these two are such bokas that they need to make mistakes before they arrive at the right decision.
The general perception is that Sona is cruel and cold hearted and does not see her mistakes and never apologises and always wants thinks to be done her way. She did wrong by hiding Soha from Dev etc etc. The other side things Dev always is impulsive, he is a control freak, he mistakes and always expects others to understand, why did he not go looking for Sona when she went from Delhi for seven years.
Both the sides are right. These two rather confused individuals need some time to arrive at the right decision which I am sure they will at the end of the story. Sona's need for perfection is mainly driven by the fact that for the longest time she was the only earning member of her house because even at the beginning of the series she takes up the job at the Dixit household only because she needs the money that time she sacrificed her self respect for it. See even now she knows that her brother cant do without her. In Dev she has the perfect partner. What the general viewers feel is that how can Dev give up his business or work for Sona??? If I followed the story correctly she was hesitant to take it up but it is Dev's encouragement and words that helped her make up her mind. It is only a supremely confident man who would be able to take the decision that Dev did.
In fact I feel that Sona has been shown to be one dimensional it is Dev who has more shades...
These two are just trying to change the normally accepted societal norms that dictate that a man must earn and the woman must be at home, primarily. Dev and Sona would obviously make mistakes along the way but I think they will get the balance, eventually. I love a man who stands behind his wife in all her efforts. Also the fundamental difference between Season 1 and Season 2 is that earlier they were always at loggerheads and now they are together and trying to adjust their beliefs and ideologies with each other. They have realized that they work better as a team. They understand strengths and weaknesses much better this season.
Hence, this Devakshi combination is what keeps me hooked to this serial even though the timing in India is a pain!!!
I am forever in love with this couple and I think will continue to be so in love with them!
