Chapter 25: Waking and breaking

It all started with pouring rain: cats, dogs, bugs and monkeys and all. The sky was of dark blue in colour with numerous grey clouds hanging loose as if ready to break off any second. Obvious to all this was Maan, who slept like a baby, make that a deaf baby. Banging utensils, slamming doors, Adi's shrieks, Dadi's nagging and even Pinky's screams were ignored over the past hour or so. People dressed, fed and readied yet the royal ache was in bed dreaming of sweets things while everything sweet turned sour downstairs.

'See I told you, he's a liability Darji' Brij boasted as the elders sat around, some agreeing while others fretted. Darji looked out the window again, but other than the thundering sky everything very much remained the same.

'Ghadda idhar aaa' Raji's screams could be heard from upstairs followed by Tito's agonising yelps. Darji had deemed it wise for them to stay at home today with the rain throwing a havoc, but now it was everything but wise.

'Forget him tending to Geet, it'll be Geet looking after him. He's a 25 year old baby' Brij continued ranting over the screaming fight of Raji and Tito.

'He's a baby' Dadi mocked making funny faces to which Adi laughed only to earn him a smack from Pinky and a growl from Dadi, quietening him up in a second.

'Savi calm down' Dida whispered from beside, looking from her husband to her grandson; both equally happy. However Brij presented his happiness with an evil smile, while Darji hid it but his gleaming eyes told her of the tale quite clearly.

'Kaise Radi, your grandson is leaving no stone unturned to spread rubbish while mine has turned into an overnight sleeping princess' Dadi harshly bite back growing red by each second, Maan was having one of his hang-over days but this time out of work rather than alcohol.

'BAS KARO' they heard Geet roar in the background stopping every single conversion and it also managed to wake Maan up, who fell to the ground in horror hearing his soft spoken Geet sound anything but nice.

Geet for the last two hours heard Tito and Raji fight over anything and everything, with everyone being home, the house turned to some sort of zoo. Every few minutes, Geet would either run downstairs to do an errand or go running after her arguing siblings and tidy up the ruckus they created. Each time she manged to clean it up, they'd create another mess throwing things at one another or breaking into a silly fight with Geet physically pulling them apart leading to more clutter. Of course, she knew of the conversation downstairs, she even tried to wake Maan up herself a few times and all he said was Mishty, awaking an unknown asset of her being. She didn't want to doubt but the thoughts of this Mishty heightened her anger.

As soon as the scream was out, she saw her younger siblings look at her in horror before running off as if she's some unknown stranger and then her mum and Taiji came in looking stressed and pondered over her like she's fallen ill or hit her head.

'Kuch nahi, just got a headache' she lied while sitting on the bed with her head down as tears garnered trying to slip from the corners.

'Mishty' she heard Maan call, falling to his knees before her in his messy bed hair

'Mishty' he repeated and she broke out into a weeping sob, shoving her face into her palm

'Mishty kya hua' he asked placing a hand on her shoulder

'Who's this Mishty?' she slapped his hand as the crowd in her room gasped seeing a different side, one that was angry and upset. But Geet and Maan where in a parallel world with just him and her.

'You sweetheart, my Mishty my sweetie' he cooed grinning like a fool as she blushed like a cherry.

'Was my Mishty jealous?' he questioned in a baby tone sitting beside her as his arms folded around her shoulder, he was trying to pull her leg and she knew growing red by the second

'No I wasn't' she denied hiding her shining red face into his chest, an act that happened just naturally while her family watched in monochrome shocking out the colour from their vision.

Note: I don't think I've used Mishty' ever so thought to give it a try, plus Maan's so cute when he says that lol
