So Chinna Thambi has married Nandini.
I like the chemistry between the two lead actors but ...
The premise for their wedding was really ridiculous.
So Nandini's mother was worried that Nandini would commit suicide if she did not get married this time. And her solution was to get her married off to Chinna Thambi who though may be a good guy but still was the guy who Nandini obviously hated and had demonstrated her hate in front of everyone by actually throwing things at him and all.
This while Nandini was in a zombie-like state and could not actually consent to this wedding. It is one thing if she was aware and instead was pressurized to marry Chinna Thambi like how he was. I mean, it would still be her choice ultimately even if it is done under duress. But this ...
So her parents just asked a guy, who their grown up daughter hated, to marry her without even asking her. If I were her, I would file for annulment of the marriage immediately. And this would not affect her mental status? Let me see. Is it worse to have your wedding stopped or actually marry and have to live with a guy that you hate?
And for all their talk of their family respect, honour and all, is it not more embarrassing to have to beg someone to marry your daughter (as if she was such a horrible marriage prospect that nobody else would want to marry her) and have your embarrassing and shameful family secrets revealed all in front of guests? After all, people would still gossip that the original groom was arrested at the wedding, regardless.
And Chinna Thambi's mother was another piece of work. She told her son to marry Nandini and then after the fact, moaned that she had "lost" her son. She could have "kept" her son if she had just said no. There could have been other opportunities to make Nandini's father seek their forgiveness.
I mean, I do like stories where people fall in love after marriage and all. But I wish that they did not remove the girl's agency completely.
