CHAPTER 1
Arnav felt a pull on his pants from behind as he was checking out shirts in the mall. He turned to see a cute little girl smiling as she held his pants in her small fist. The moment she saw Arnav's face her smile faded away and she withdrew her hand at once. Arnav realised that she probably assumed him to be her father and followed him. And now she felt lost. Arnav smiled seeing her scared face and knelt down to speak to the three-year-old.
"Hello beta, what's your name?"
"Arohi" she replied hesitantly, looking around searching for someone.
"What a lovely name!" said Arnav trying to make her comfortable. "See what I have for you..." he said taking out a chocolate from his pocket.
Arohi's eyes glittered and a wide smile brightened her face at once seeing the chocolate, but she didn't take it.
"Go ahead, take it..."
She nodded refusing it. "Mamma has told not to take anything from strangers" she replied.
Arnav smiled putting the chocolate back into his pocket. "Alright. Where's your mamma?" he asked.
Arohi stared at him with a blank face.
"Don't worry, come we will find her..." he said.
Arohi reluctantly held his finger in her little hand and walked with him to the reception on that floor on the mall. He told the staff that Arohi was searching for her parents. The staff asked Arohi her full name.
"Arohi Gupta" she said.
Gupta - the name was very familiar to Arnav. He was lost into his thoughts for a moment.
"Arohi!" someone called out from behind as the staff was about to make the announcement. Arnav turned to see tall, good looking guy looking at Arohi with relief.
"Had I not told you to not leave my hand!"
Arohi ran to him at once and jumped into his arms.
"You have a lovely daughter" said Arnav.
Arohi's dad nodded with a smile as he kissed her forehead. "Thanks" he said.
Arnav walked to them. "Will you take the chocolate now?" he asked Arohi.
She looked at her dad for approval. He nodded. She quickly grabbed the chocolate.
"What should you say, Arohi?" asked her dad.
"Thank you!" said Arohi in her sweet voice.
Arnav warmly tapped on her head with a smile and they parted ways.
After the shopping, as Arnav walked to the parking lot, he remembered another Gupta he had met some years ago. Khushi Gupta his first love! He smiled remembering her. She was just like Arohi, very cute and innocent. He laughed as he got into the driving seat remembering her non-stop talks. Her hazel eyes, her beautiful face, her company... he still missed her at times.
As Arnav was about to ignite the engine, he saw little Arohi trotting alongside her dad towards their car. Arnav watched her in amusement. She stopped and looked back calling out to her mom.
"Mamma, come fast!"
Arnav looked in the direction. "What the!" His eyes were wide in shock and surprise seeing who her mom was. "Khushi?!"
