CHAPTER 7

Khushi paced up and down the veranda waiting for Arvind to return. It was past 11 PM. Arohi was sleeping soundly in her room. Arvind usually never came this late. And whenever he had, he had had informed Khushi about it. But today, he hadn't called or texted Khushi, neither was he receiving her call. And now his phone was apparently switched off. Khushi was tensed. She had called at his office to know that he had left from there at around 7. And she knew that it hardly took him an hour, even with the traffic on the way, to reach home. But he wasn't there yet. Khushi didn't know what to do. She had even tried calling a couple of his friends she knew. But they had no idea where Arvind was.

Her phone rang. She accepted the call instantly expecting it was Arvind.

"Where the hell are you?! she exclaimed in fear and anger.

"Khushi... It's me, Arnav

Khushi was surprised. Arnav? Why has he called now?

"Look Arnav... I am in no mood to listen to your crap now! I already have got a lot to worry about! So please, don't call me again... Ple...

"It's about Arvind

Khushi fell silent. About Arvind?

"He is cheating on you, Khushi...

"What the hell are you saying?

"Believe me Khushi... I am not lying. He is right in front of me, with some other girl

Khushi could sense the seriousness in Arnav's voice. She knew somewhere that he was saying the truth.

"Arvind is not a good man, Khushi. He isn't right for you!

"Shut up! Khushi couldn't listen to any more of it. "Just shut up! And don't call again!

Saying so, she hung up. She was angry. But who was she angry at? Arnav? Or Arvind? Now she was more desperately waiting for Arvind to come.

Just shut up! And don't call again! Arnav stared at the dark screen of his phone with teary eyes. He looked near the car in front. He clenched his fist seeing Arvind hug the girl sitting on the back seat. How can someone cheat on Khushi? She doesn't deserve this. She definitely deserved better. Better who? Me? The one who left her when she needed him the most? How different am I from Arvind? Am I worse than him?

At one moment, Arnav felt like pulling Arvind out of the car holding his collar and giving him a tight slap for betraying Khushi. But then his conscience pulled him back saying he didn't have any right to do so. Feeling helpless, he just drove off, hoping Khushi got to know the truth about Arvind soon.

Khushi flung open the door as soon as she heard Arvind's car enter the gate. Arvind knew she was angry. And why wouldn't she be? He knew he should have informed her. But Khushi didn't give him a chance to explain.

"Didn't you think it was necessary to let be know that you would be late? Didn't you know that I would be waiting for you? No call, no message, phone switched off... What should I think of it, haan?

"Khushi... Arvind held her by her arms and made her sit on the sofa. "I am sorry, dear. I did want to inform you, but I didn't get a chance. I swea...

Khushi pushed away his hands that held her. "Didn't get chance because you were so busy with someone else?

Arvind was taken aback by Khushi's words. How does she know?

"Is someone more important to you than me? she whispered in despair.

Arvind just hugged Khushi tightly, his shirt absorbing all her tears. "I am sorry he said caressing her back. "No one can be more important to me than you. You know that, don't you?

Khushi stayed silent in his embrace. She knew what she meant to him. She knew she was safe with him. But she had no idea what game fate was to play with her.
