for Khushi knowing that she is pregnant with her Arnav's baby she is scared at her parents reaction but she trusted Arnav he was her love and he would make everything right but then his words said something else something she was not prepared for

Arvind seems shocked that Khushi is aware about him been with someone else

CHAPTER 9

"Why are you so shocked?" asked Khushi, seeing Arvind's face turn white. "I know you both love each other and I don't ha-"

"No Khushi, you are misunderstanding. Listen to m-"

"It's okay Arvind" said Khushi calmly. "And you don't know how happy I am for you" she smiled wide, though her eyes were wet.

Arvind sighed. "I am sorry, Khushi. I should have informed you..."

Khushi quickly wiped the tear that had escaped her eye. "Sorry I reacted in a rude way. I just feel very insecure when you disappear somewhere... no way to contact... I don't understand what to do..." She closed her eyes to hold in the tears. "I feel scared..." she whispered.

"I am not going anywhere, Khushi" said Arvind in an assuring tone. But he felt a pinch in his heart while he said it. He knew it was not true. And he had always hated lying to Khushi. But he had to this time.

"After he left me in the state I was in, it's you and only you who stayed with me... Even though I wasn't your sister, and just a cousin. Even though you had to go against the family, you stayed with me. You strongly supported my decisions, you took care of me in every way anyone possibly can, and you-"

"Shhh Arvind pulled Khushi into a brotherly hug. "Enough of flattering me!" he teased.

"I am such a cheap... I shouldn't feel angry or jealous when you go with her, but sometimes I just can't accept that someone else is more important to you than me"

"No, Khushi... Never! No one will ever be important to me than my li'l sis..." He gently tapped her nose and said, "Got it?"

Khushi smiled through her tears.

Remembering their childhood, Arvind recited the lines he used to say for Khushi... "Moti si pari... Kare seenazori... Phir bhi lagti hai pyaari... Khushi meri!"

Khushi was pleasantly surprised to hear it after so long. She recalled what she used to say in return for Arvind. "Lamba sa para... Akdu hai zara... Phir bhi lagta hai pyara... Bhaiyya mera!"

Both laughed remembering those days. Going to the same school... playing together... teasing each other... caring for each other. Arvind and Khushi didn't have siblings, but they were no less than brother-sister. They were close since childhood, and gradually they became best friends and Arvind bhaiyya' for Khushi changed to just Arvind' overcoming their three-year age difference.

"But I am not moti anymore, okay?" Khushi made it clear.

"Haan haan... You are on the verge of vanishing now!" teased Arvind.

Khushi punched Arvind on his arm playfully. "And you are not akdu either... she added, smiling.

Khushi trusted Arvind more than anyone, more than herself. And Arvind knew he was going to break her trust. He was relieved that Khushi didn't know the truth yet. But how did she know that he was with Nisha?

"Are you blessed with some magical vision?" asked Arvind acting suspicious.

Khushi laughed. "Why?"

"You get to know where I am and with whom!" he said narrowing his eyes.

"Oh..." Khushi's smile faded away. "He had called to tell me that" Arvind was shocked. Arnav had called? "He thinks you are my husband. So he called to tell me that you are cheating on me"

"And you believed in him?"

"I had to... His voice was so genuine" Khushi replied dreamily.

"You still love him, don't you?"

Khushi wasn't expecting such a question. "It's very late, Arvind. We should sleep now" she said, standing up to walk to her room.

"Khushi, wait!"

"Good night, Arvind!" she wished disappearing into her room.

Khushi wasn't responding to Arnav's calls and messages. He was tensed. She had tried a lot to convince him for getting married to her, but he denied. And now, he wasn't able to contact her. Is she alright? I hope she is. I didn't mean to hurt her... Never! But how can I marry her now? Arnav was fighting his own thoughts. There was no news from Khushi's side. Her phone was switched off. And Arnav had no courage to go to her home. He didn't even know whether she had told about this to her uncle and aunt. Suddenly his phone rang. Khushi! Finally, she had called. He answered the call without wasting another moment.

"Khushi! Where are you? I was trying to call yo-"

"It's done" she interrupted.

"What is done?" Arnav was confused. "You got the abortion done?" he asked in shock. "Alone?" He couldn't believe it.

"I realised that I had to take a decision. And that I had no other choice but to go ahead... Alone! she replied in a weak yet determined tone.

"What are you saying Khushi? You could have told me atleas-"

"Goodbye Arnav!"

"Khu-"

The line went blank.

Arnav tried calling her again but her phone was switched off and later he realised that the number didn't exist anymore. He was stunned to know that it was the final Goodbye.

Arnav was trying to keep himself busy with work to get over Khushi, but flashes from the past were haunting him. The final goodbye was one thing he had never expected. But now he knew how hurt Khushi would have been at that time. He shut the flap of his laptop with a bang and leaned back closing his eyes in frustration. What have I done!

Khushi lay on her bed, eyes wide open, wet with tears. You still love him, don't you? Arvind's words were reverberating in her mind. Love him? How can I still love him after all that he did to me? She glanced at Arohi who was peacefully sleeping beside her. She caressed Arohi lovingly and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Arohi's innocent face reminded her of the determination with which she had chosen to bring Arohi into this world. And now she couldn't fall weak again! Never!
