CHAPTER 2

Arnav couldn't believe his eyes. Khushi is Arohi's mom? What the! He weaved his fingers through his hair in astonishment. But why should he be so shocked? He had not seen or spoken to her since more than four years now. He should have been happy to see Khushi had moved on after their relationship had ended in such a bitter way four years ago. She was married now with a fairly handsome guy and had a lovely daughter too. Wasn't that a reason to be happy? He used to love her afterall and wanted her to always be happy. Then why wasn't he happy? Was he jealous? Wait a minute! Did he still love her?

Arnav saw Khushi happily lifting Arohi in her arms and getting into the passenger seat of their sedan. They set off. Without another thought Arnav followed them through the crowded streets. All the memories flooded his mind as he followed Khushi. She was his Khushi few years ago. And now she was someone else's. The thought was troubling him. She had blocked him from her life after their break-up. He had thought he would never see her or hear from her again. But there she was, happily married. Arghh! Arnav banged his hand on the steering wheel in frustration. On one hand, he felt guilty for not feeling happy for Khushi, and on the other, he felt devastated. He was happy in life a few minutes ago even though Khushi wasn't in his life. But now everything had changed suddenly. He just couldn't see Khushi with someone else. He followed her car through the streets desperate to meet her. Meet? Or just see? He wasn't sure. Rather he didn't really care about it at the moment. One question was troubling him the most. Why did Arohi tell her name as Arohi Gupta'? How is Khushi still a 'Gupta'? Even after marriage?

Arnav saw Khushi's car stop in front of the gate of a bungalow. Arnav too halted his at some distance behind them making sure he wasn't noticed. He saw a watchman slide the gates and their car went in. He heard a dog barking too. And then he heard Arohi laughing and enjoying, probably playing with the dog. When he was sure they had gone inside the house, he slowly drove towards the bungalow and stopped in front of the gate to read the nameplate. Arvind Gupta. Oh! So she had found another Gupta as her life partner. Arnav clenched his jaws reading the name. He saw the watchman suspiciously staring at him while the dog barked. He heard the grill door open and as he saw Khushi coming out, he drove off.

"What happened Shankar ji? Any problem? she asked the watchman.

"Nothing madam, a man in his car had stopped here and was looking at the name plate. But then he went away

"Oh... said Khushi thoughtfully staring at Arnav's car as it disappeared around the corner, "Maybe he was searching for someone's house. She walked to their pep dog. "Shh... It's nothing Panda... she told him caressing his head and walked back inside.

Arnav didn't know what all was going through his mind. He was very disturbed as he drove back to his home. Reaching home, he directly went and stood under the shower... feeling helpless, feeling hopeless, feeling empty.
