The success of Toilet Ek Prem Katha followed by the moderate success of Bareilly Ki Barfi had given the industry a lift but all that has come down with a thud today. There were five new hindi releases and the collections were a total disaster. None of these films were expected to set the box office on fire or even take an initial but the early collections coming in are a total shocker. The public has just not come for any of the films and in some parts it was a holiday but its not really an effective holiday has where it is a holiday, may people are busy with festivities. The early estimates for the new releases are as follows.
A Gentleman - 3.50 crore
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz - 1.25 crore
Muskurahatein - under 5 lakhs
Qaidi Band - under 15 lakhs
Sniff - under 15 lakhs
Basically with around 4000 screens occupied with these five films the collections are just 5 crore nett. If they come out a bit higher in the morning the number may touch 5.50 crore but even that makes it a horror Friday for the Hindi film industry
