Salman Khan Being Human! Returns 32.5 Crores To Distributors For Tubelight

Earlier, many said Salman Khan's commitment to payback the losses to distributors was just a fluke.

When Salman Khan united with Kabir Khan after Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the hopes were sky high. Unfortunately, the case was not the same as Tubelight was declared flop at the box office. Distributors incurred huge losses for the film.

Salman Khan's Tubelight opened on a decent note considering the pre-eid factor. It opened with 21.15 crores and gave some hopes to grow over the weekend. Eid was on the cards and expectations were buzzing up. Unfortunately, word of mouth of the film was extremely mixed. People found the film too lengthy and didn't connect with the narrative. It managed to gross 64.77 Cr. in its 1st weekend. The real problem for the film started from Monday as it started to fall. Not at an extreme level, but at the level, a Salman Khan film can't afford to fall.

The film was able to collect 106.86 crores in its first week. The film was sold at very high prices to distributors. The film ended its lifetime run at 121.25 crores proving to be a huge loss maker for distributors. Earlier, many said Salman Khan's commitment to payback the losses to distributors was just a fluke. But he has lived up to his dialogue of, "Maine ek baar jo commitment kar di toh phir main apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta. Salman has decided to payback 32.50 crores as a part of the losses that were suffered by distributors.

I just want to say 'Good job, you didn't have to' before the trolls, detractors filled with negativity come in with their usual 'but the loss was 70 cr'.

My father is a businessman. Aise toh business nahi chalta bhai. Distributor invested at their own will. It's business and there will be risk to failure. If one doesn't want, one won't invest in his movies/prod houses in future. Why mollycoddle them even. I dont support this at all. 👎🏼

Tubelight's Maharashtra distributor Shreyans Hirawat can now heave a sigh of relief as Salman has agreed to pay back half of the losses incurred by him during the screening of Tubelight.

The actor had promised to return distributor's money by July end, but since he was busy shooting abroad for Tiger Zinda Hai, he couldn't repay them back in July. Now that he is back in Mumbai, he's agreed to pay back Rs. 32.5 crores which is half of the total losses suffered by the distributors over Tubelight.

Unfortunately, the same distributor Shreyans Hirawat has suffered a loss of Rs. 50 crore on the SRK starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal. So, will SRK follow Salman's footsteps and compensate the distributors for their losses?

Well actually when they buy the film there's a minimum guarantee clause. If it's not met, the producers have to pay to cover it but in Bollywood nobody does. And nobody is going to courts either because first it will take years and secondly they don't want to ruin their relationship with the production house.
But Salman kept his word, even if you hate someone this is a positive act and must be appreciated. I'm sure everyone will agree that Salman didn't have to, his films would still fetch record prices and distributors would still line up to buy it. It's a big amount, it's not common at all and it's out of Goodness. Bravo!

Salman Khan returns 32.5 crores to Tubelight distributors

Salman Khan's Tubelight was a huge box office failure. The film which released on Eid, grossed 118 crores in its lifetime run in India.

The distribution rights of Tubelight were sold to NH Studios for 132 crore. Thus it caused heavy losses for distributors and many of them lost their lifetime earning. There were reports that Salman will compensate the distributors few days back. Now the actor has finally repaid 32.5 cr.

On Wednesday, Salman Khan called the distributor to compensate for the losses suffered due to Tubelight. Salman, on the behest of his father Salim Khan, agreed in June to reimburse for the losses suffered for Tubelight.

Says a source close to the development, "Salman Khan had promised to return his distributor's money by the end of July. However, he was busy shooting abroad for Tiger Zinda Hai. no business man would do that in todays time..

they invested at their OWN RISK..

had the movie been ATBB..would these distributors have returned the more than expected money they got? No! so technically they cannot demand or expect when they get less than expected either

but great gesture by Salman Khan..

lets see if Shah returns the money for huge losses to distributors for JHMS or not..

Salman Khan had promised the distributors to pay the losses that they would incur after his last release 'Tubelight' tanked at the box office. He thus abided by his words and called the Maharashtra distributors of 'Tubelight' to compensate for the losses they suffered.

A source close to the development told a leading daily, "Salman had promised to return his distributor's money by the end of July. However, he was busy shooting abroad for his upcoming movie opposite Katrina Kaif. Now that he's back in Mumbai he has agreed to return Rs 32.5 crores to the distributors. This is half of the total losses suffered by distributors over 'Tubelight'."

Another catch is that the distributor, who will be getting his losses fixed by Salman Khan, has also suffered a huge loss of around Rs 50 Crores from Shah Rukh Khan's 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' recently.

As per reports, Shah Rukh Khan is also said to follow his close friend Salman Khan's footsteps in order to cover up the losses faced by the distributor and compensate with the money.
However, there has been no official confirmation regarding Shah Rukh Khan's move about the returns, by both the involved parties.
