So finally after a week long waiting we got to see Shiv Sati story and it was worth the wait.
The makers have done a awesome work in showing Sati and Parvati as two distinct personalities while working with the same actress. The characterisation was really good. And of course the actress was brilliant playing both the characters with a subtle difference. Even the looks of Sati and Parvati are very much different.
While Parvati is a reincarnation of Sati, one is not a shadow of the other. They are similar yet different. Sati, as we see in the very first scene, is mischievous and has her own way. She seems very confident of herself and her capability to take care of herself. She is confident that she can protect herself. She is proud and childish but good at heart. She questions everything she sees and is ready to seek answers to them by every means. Parvati on the other hand, has an air of serenity around her. She is rather calm and soft. She is humble and does not consider herself to be of much insignificance. She does not consider herself to be anything beyond a normal woman except that she is Mahadev's ardhangini. It is to him or her brother she appeals to when worried.
Still both the characters are very similar. They are both extremely loyal and loving. Parvati cares for all around her and turns into Kali when she sees those she loves being harmed and Sati we see is set to protect her praja and for that purpose goes out of the bounds set for her. Again both are extremely loyal and devoted to Shiv. The calm Parvati raises her voice when she is insulted by Shumbh's messenger who asks her to marry his master and leave Shiv and when Shumbh speaks had about Mahadev. Sati too loses her patience when her father speaks against Shiv and refuses to let her go to him. Also both the characters are rather innocent and curious. Parvati looks at everything Shiv says and everything that goes around her with a childlike curiosity. The same goes for Sati as she looks for answers.
As of now we have seen Sati's determination as she goes against everything she loves to get her love. I wonder what will be Paravati's story. Hope they show that next week.
