What doesn't work for this show?

This show was started as a revenge love story but they chose the wrong emperor for this fictional story. They tried to make it jodha akbar remake but ended up looking like a goon. Seriously most of the audience know that CGM was a freedom fighter not a lover. He hate Nanda's because of their corrupt disposition, Dhananada's insult of chanakya and misery of People of Magadha. He did marry daughter of Dhananada(though some sources claim cgm was son of Dhananada with Moora bit Jain sources are the most reliable though they are biased towards cgm) but he didn't love her. He married her in vain. He was a very hardworking king and here he was reduced to a puppy. Helena's grudge towards him is a little justified as she loves him so much yet he fell for Nandini who by the way never had done anything good to gain cgm's respect.

Story line of this show is also very poor. It's not for trp aunties or kids Or romance lovers or general audience. If ekta took a romantic Historical king like prithviraja Chauhan or quli qutb Shah the show might have worked.

The Historical relationship of cgm-helen(not Helena) is completely destroyed by the serial. Their sweet bond which they share is totally missing. Even Asoka showed Justin which suggest that at some point they shared love between them.

Ekta should never touch History again.

What does not work for audience is - suspension of belief in this immense love chandra shows to his enemy daughter nandini despite her not doing anything great for him or his family etc

Because of dhananand, chandra gupta chankya and his family(mom, dad, brothers, sisters) hide in jungles for many years from his soldiers(as dhananand wanted them dead for revolting against him)

If someone does all that to your family and guru(forget chandra, he can take any pain) will anyone love their daughter

Especially when they show helena helping him in war against dhananand and dhurudhara dad also giving him money that won him war and made him emperor. His first loyalty should be with these two wives not nand daughter(practically). Bindu himself was close to helena and her family in history.

Chandra gupta only married nand daughter because chankya said for politics sake so he is accepted by all factions as king

If chandra would be so close to nand daughter than bindu would not be brought up by daima and his own dad and chankya. Bindu was close to his dai ma and chankya and dad than any other person in family.

Add to that chandra only listens to nandini blindly without thinking like getting pandudrath to palace or forgiving him and not fulfilling chankyas promise.

No matter how much chandra loves nandini, audience will not accept him going against chankya for nandini or anyone. Because chankya did so much for chandra all life gave him food, teaching, protected him like a father and mother, gave him good life rather than proverty life(with parents), helped him win magadh, made him king. No father will do so much for a child chankya did that and chandra misbehaving and challenging chankya in full sabha unbelievable. If chankya had not done all this chandra would be a shepherd in some village even today not emperor

Next is moora case, moora spent 25 years waiting in open prison for her son, how much humilation dhanannad did to her, cut her hubby head in front of her etc and today chandra listen more to nandini than moora. Why? What nandini has done for him that moora has not? She saved his life on first day and took so much pain and chandra shows no love, care, concern for his mom or sister only nandini.

I think chandra first loyalty should be with moora, chaya, dhurudhara and helena only than nandini for all these women did much more for him than nandini can ever do in a lifetime. Instead he treats all four women who have sacrificed and helped him so much like unrelated like untouchables and listen only to nandini. He looks eshaan faramosh with everyone thats why difficult to like chandra or nandini

. You have explained the faults of the show. This show should have been about life of cgm not his love story. But I guess ekta herself knows she can't pull off a warrior's story so she chose love but cgm is not known as lover king. Like you said he chooses dumbo and not good looking nandini above everyone. This is not likable or looks real to audience. The way nandini has been accused of crimes she should have been hanged by now. In history Helena was same age of bindusara and here she is drugging him. Really? In history a genius like amatya rakshasa could not kill cgm and here a fun villain is successfully running magadha empire. This show is an insult to history. It's a disgrace in name of historical fiction. I hope porus of Sony TV will at least show a glimpse of cgm when porus will fight Alexander. I really miss ndtv imagine cgm for perfect casting and story. There except durdhara track everything was just perfect. I pity rajat for choosing this stupid serial. He was so good as prithviraj Chauhan. He would have been a good cgm if properly shown.
